Costco's Massive Barn Shed Provides Endless Backyard Possibilities

Costco has rolled out many fan favorites, from its famous rotisserie chicken, always priced at $4.99, to its house-brand Kirkland toilet paper (the store's top-selling item), and most recently, a massive, two-story Goliath barn shed. The structure, made by Gorilla Shed, comes in a range of sizes, from 16 feet by 16 feet, priced at $13,499.99, to the largest, which measures 16 feet by 23 feet and costs $22,499.99. Prices include — we repeat, include — delivery and installation.

The sheds are available through Costco Next, a program that connects members directly to suppliers, from which they make their purchases. These are not eligible for Costco Executive benefits or reward calculations. The sheds, which are made in Michigan, are not available in Florida due to permit requirements. The average lead time for installation is three to six weeks from purchase.

Beyond sizing, the sheds are highly customizable to your needs, with the option to add windows, vents, skylights, and even a traditional cupola rooster weather vane. Shingles come in four colors: gray, dark brown, driftwood, and black. You're probably thinking, OK, cool, but what would I do with a giant Gorilla Shed? Turns out the possibilities for what to do with a shed are actually quite endless.

What to do with your two-story Gorilla Shed

The two-story Goliath Gorilla Shed from Costco isn't limited to traditional storage for items like tools and landscaping equipment. It can easily be transformed into a cozy guest suite where friends and family can stay, or a home office. The shed can also serve as a quiet escape — think reading nook or meditation space — or a space to pursue hobbies and passions, such as an art, a photography, or a music studio. In this same vein, it can be turned into a man cave or a she shed, which can be highly customized to suit individual styles.

For families, the Goliath Gorilla Shed can serve as a playroom or teen hangout, complete with toys, arcade games, and ping pong, giving kids a dedicated space to spend time with friends. It can also enhance your yard as a pool house or even an outdoor bar to host guests. Or, how about a gym? Beekeeping shed? Space for client meetings? With proper insulation and utilities, the possibilities really are endless.
