DIY A Beautiful Thanksgiving Tablescape Using A Stunning Pool Noodle Hack
Whether you're hosting for Thanksgiving this year or you just want to decorate to get into the autumn holiday spirit, the dining table is a great place to start. Sure, you can buy the needle candlestick wreath from Walmart or the traditional cornucopia from Amazon, but these won't do much to satisfy your DIY creativity. If you want an easy, low-cost way to decorate the entire length of your table, consider the idea shared on TikTok. All you need are a couple of pool noodles, some zip ties, and an assortment of fall decorations.
The TikToker used sandwich candle sticks, faux flowers with stems, fabric leaves, plastic pumpkins, pine cones, and a few other harvest items. You will likely also need a glue gun or some other type of adhesive to attach some of the decorations onto the pool noodles. The other items with stems and sticks can be inserted directly into the noodles.
Wondering how much the DIY tablescape costs? You can purchase a pair of pool noodles for about $15 at Walmart. The color doesn't matter, since the noodles will be covered. The total cost of the decorative items depends on the quantity and store you choose, but expect to pay roughly $15 or more. The TikToker purchased all of her items from the dollar store and made her tablescape a few feet long, but if you want yours to be shorter, you obviously won't need as many decorations.
How to make the Thanksgiving tablescape from pool noodles
First, decide how long you want your tablescape to be. Standard swim noodles measure about 50 inches long, so if you want your masterpiece shorter than that, cut them to size. Then, place the noodles side by side on your table and attach them together with a few zip ties. Use as many as necessary to prevent the noodles from bulging or separating. Cut off the excess plastic pieces. With the noodles securely fastened, you can begin attaching the decorations.
If you purchased sandwich candle sticks like the TikToker did, place them between the noodles, either by feeding them in from underneath or placing the noodles on top of them. Next, attach the decorations to the noodles either by sticking them directly in or by using a glue gun or other adhesive. You may also be able to use safety pins or straight pins, depending on the item. Spread the items around evenly until they cover the entirety of the noodles. And that's it!
You can place the decoration by itself on your table or atop a festive table runner. Alternatively, you can create a wreath centerpiece by attaching the ends of one noodle together. You likely won't need the other noodle with this option. Once you have your noodle ring, you can attach the decorations the same way, but instead of the sandwich candle sticks, you can have a large candle in the center or some other Thanksgiving item. There are many ways to customize this pool noodle hack, so let your creativity flow, and have fun.
