The Elegant Two-Tone Kitchen Cabinet Trend That'll Make Your Space Stand Out
Have you been looking at hundreds of ideas for your kitchen remodel? Redesigning your kitchen can be a fun opportunity to try out different aesthetics and make a space that you will truly enjoy — and this trend is sure to spark your interest. For this newer concept, designers paint the kitchen cabinets two different colors for a beautiful look that will make the space stand out. House Digest spoke exclusively with Veronica Solomon, Principal Designer at Casa Vilora Interiors, to learn more about this trend and how to create it in your own home.
"I really love the trend, and for me, it is more of a timeless design feature than a trend," Solomon shared. If you like the design, it can be a great change to your kitchen. And, according to Solomon, the cabinet's design isn't a big factor when painting the kitchen's cabinets with two different colors. "I don't think the cabinet style matters as much, but I much prefer to keep the lines clean and nothing overly ornate," Solomon explained.
How to choose your two-toned cabinet colors
If you have fallen in love with the two-toned design, choosing the right color may seem like a challenge. How do designers pick the perfect shade of paint? House Digest spoke exclusively with Solomon about what colors she believes work well for a two-toned kitchen design.
"Great combinations can be wood tones mixed with warm whites, or a white with a shade of blue like teal or navy or even green," Solomon said. She has even used pink and purple for the kitchen cabinets in one of her recent designs. "Black and white (tuxedo style) is also great but has to be done carefully to avoid looking stark and too contrasty," she added. If you are concerned about the color choices, bring home a few samples or paint a few swatches around the kitchen first and look at it in different lights to help decide what you like best.
Is the trend worth it?
It often seems like there is a new trend every day, with some popular design trends capable of increasing your home's real estate value. If you're not planning on selling anytime soon, it's also important that you enjoy your own home. House Digest spoke exclusively with Solomon about her thoughts on this trend. "Don't do it because it is a trend," Solomon said. "Do it because you love it and want to express your own style." And if you are absolutely in love with the trend, there is no need to do only two colors. Solomon has designed three-toned kitchens that are bold and beautiful.
But, if this trend isn't your style, that's okay, too. Just because something is trendy, doesn't mean that it's worth creating in your own kitchen space. There are plenty of kitchen cabinet trends that are predicted to blow up in 2025.
