Ryobi's Tree Trimmer Takes Neat & Tidy Landscaping To New Heights

Trimming your trees is an important part of keeping your curb appeal. Ensuring scraggly or dead branches get clipped and that too many aren't hanging over your driveway or front windows makes your property appear to be well-kept and carefully manicured. It also keeps everyone safe, as an old branch can easily fall and either hit a parked car or become a liability to people walking under it. But if you want to trim your trees without calling a pro, you'll need a trimmer for the job, especially if you have thicker branches. A pair of sheers won't be able to cut through all of that wood. That's where Ryobi's tree trimmer comes in.

Called the 40V Pole Saw Kit, it's battery operated and has a 10-foot extending pole. This means you don't have to mess around with gas, and it allows you to make cuts on medium-height trees, pruning anything that's overhanging or injured. However, if there is anything higher, you'll need to call an arborist. It's recommended to call in a pro if you're trimming branches higher than 10 to 15 feet tall. Still, it will help you solve smaller issues on your own. Here is a closer look at the tool.

A closer look at the 40V Pole Saw Kit

Thanks to its charge-holding battery, the 40V Pole Saw Kit is able to cut quickly and for longer periods of time. Specifically, it can execute 70 cuts before you have to recharge it, allowing you to finish your project and have enough juice left over for next time. However, since it has the Ryobi 40V battery, you can pop any 40V battery into the tool. So, if you run out of power halfway through, grab the power pack from any other 40V Lithium Tool you have. Since there are over 80 tools in that system, chances are you have one of them, like the 40V pressure washer, leaf blower, or string trimmer tool that'll whack weeds right out of your lawn.

The pole saw kit can make cuts 8 inches long, allowing you to remove small and medium-sized branches with ease. It also has an angled head, so you don't need to contort your arms to cut through. You can instead safely hold it in place, and if you need more help keeping it stable, there is also a harness that comes with the kit. If you need to cut branches that are closer to the ground and not 10 feet high, you can remove the extension in the pole to make the arm shorter. The 40V Pole Saw Kit costs $199 if you get it with a battery and charger, or $149 for only the tool.
