Turn A Dollar Tree Sink Mat Into Glamourous Outdoor Decor
If you've been looking for a new project to make your patio more elegant, this Dollar Tree DIY is perfect. With some wreath forms, dowel rods, zip ties, hot glue, and sink or bath mats, you can make a stunning outdoor side table on a budget (everything at the store is $1.25). While the mats and wreath forms will make up the base of your table, you'll also need a tabletop. For a more glamorous look, a glass top would be stylish. You might be able to find a round or square piece of glass at a thrift store, but if not the black tempered glass table top (about $23 on Amazon) would look gorgeous. If you don't like the look of glass or it's out of your price range, a simple tray could function as your tabletop.
To complete your glamorous outdoor decor, you'll also need chic colored spray paint to hide that the intricate design on your table is really a sink mat. Silver or gold would be a great choice for this project, though you might use something more universal, like black. Alternatively, you might paint your sink mat one color and the rest of the table another for a more unique look. Using a weatherproof spray paint designed for outdoor use may be the best option, especially if your patio isn't covered. Now, you can give your patio a makeover with this Dollar Tree DIY and create a piece of functional, stylish outdoor furniture.
DIYing glamorous decor with sink mats
For this project, you'll need four of Dollar Tree's square wreath forms to make one side table. These will make up the sides of your table, and your bath or sink mat will fill out and decorate the center of the shape. The non-slip sink mats would add an interesting line pattern, but using the clear bath mat will give your table a unique, bubble design. Cut pieces of your mat to match the size of the inner square of your wreath. Hot glue your mat onto this portion of the wreath form, filling in the big empty space. Repeat this with all four sides. If you want these parts to be different colors, spray paint them before gluing.
Set two of your sides upside down, place a dowel rod between the edges of the wreaths, and zip-tie the rod to the two wires. The wood will help to make your table sturdier, while the ties will connect everything. Repeat this, going around your project until you've made a square. Cut off any excess zip tie and spray paint your project. Once it's dry, you might just set a glass tabletop on your structure, or place glass tabletop bumpers ($7 on Amazon) onto the tops of the dowels to hold it. Alternatively, Dollar Tree's large wood tray ($5) could be painted to match and glued into place. This affordable DIY side table is the perfect way to level up any patio and make glamorous decor.
