Try A DIY Jar Upcycle To Showcase Your Goods & Add A Touch Of Luxury To Your Kitchen

Empty glass jars often pile up in trash cans despite their potential to be transformed into aesthetically-pleasing storage solutions. The next time you empty out a jar, consider setting it aside so that it can be reused around the house. One easy project requires nothing more than paint, contact paper, glue, and beginner-level crafting skills. To complete this DIY, you will need to coat the jar and its lid with spray paint. Before painting, block out one section of the jar with contact paper so that you have a section that remains unpainted. This transparent spot will allow you to see what is stored inside. Finally, decorate the jar to your liking. This simple process will leave you with a jar that you can use to showcase your goods and add a touch of luxury to your kitchen.

Feel free to complete this project on multiple glass jars so that you have your very own decorative storage system. After you finish, you can place pasta, rice, dry baking ingredients, or any other similar kitchen items inside. The jars will look so stunning that you can display them on your countertops or kitchen island to impress guests. You can also store them away in your pantry if you need to maximize your kitchen countertop space.

How to upcycle glass jars into decorative storage

Your first step is to cut a section of contact paper into a circle (or square, if desired) and stick it onto the middle of your jar. Consider using the affordable Heroad Brand Contact Paper for this step. Next, find a space outside to lay down a piece of cardboard, place your jar on top, and coat the jar in spray paint. If you like the look of the spray paint shown in the video above, the Krylon Black Fusion All-In-One Paint & Primer in matte black may be perfect for you. Otherwise, use whichever spray paint color you prefer. The Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Spray can be used to coat the jar lids.

After you have allowed the paint to dry completely, peel the contact paper away from the glass and get started with decorating. You can use the FolkArt Acrylic Metallic Paint to mimic the gold dots shown in the video if you would like. However, you can also use a stencil or freehand paint to add your own designs. The gold ball at the top of the bottle adds a perfect touch of elegance to the jar, but this final step is totally optional. Feel free to glue one of the Vikakiooze Mini Christmas Balls from Walmart onto your lid with super glue if you like the look. Or, you could use a cabinet knob instead. After you have completed this process, you can go ahead and use these jars to store dry goods in your kitchen. They are also the perfect item to use to organize bathroom essentials.
