TikTok's Bathroom Storage Trick Clears Up Visual Clutter Around Your Toilet

When making your bathroom feel less cluttered, you might be most concerned with minimizing the items on your countertop. However, you should also take a look around your bathroom floor as well. Toilet brushes, plungers, and other cleaning tools are relatively small, but in a typically-cramped space like a bathroom, they can take up a lot of room, which makes them easy to run into and knock over. Plus, be honest, how many times do you just clean around the toilet plunger without even lifting it up? Not only do these items take up valuable space, but they also get in the way while you're sweeping and mopping. Furthermore, if you're just putting your toilet cleaning accessories directly on the floor and never cleaning underneath them, you've got a disastrous bathroom hygiene situation on your hands.

Since you need all of these tools and accessories pretty close to the toilet, spreading them around the house isn't the best solution (not to mention gross). Of course, getting rid of these everyday bathroom essentials isn't an option, either. So how can you eliminate floor clutter in the restroom? Well, we found a genius Velcro hack from TikToker @maizimm. You'll simply stick Velcro (or other hook and loop fasteners) to your bathroom cleaning tools and hang them directly from the side of your toilet tank. This easy tip may even make you hate cleaning the toilet just a little bit less

Why this Velcro hack works

We like the idea of using Velcro self-sticking adhesive pads (like the BESTAPE Hook and Loop Strips) because they are affordable and be attached and detached repeatedly without ruining the pads or losing any stickiness. They're also an easy renter-friendly hack for decluttering the bathroom. This trick also doesn't require any special DIY skills or know-how, so it's super accessible and easy to do. By putting these tools on the side of the toilet rather than directly on the floor, you'll free up square footage, making your bathroom more functional and less cluttered.

After you've properly cleaned your plunger, toilet wand, or brush, it may still drip a bit once hung, but it's no big deal to spray the area beneath these items with a bathroom sanitizing solution and wipe the floor. You'll no longer be putting that icky toilet tool directly on your floor or in a stand where it can't properly dry out, which can lead to bacterial growth and nasty mold. However, that's not the only cleaning benefit. Now when you sweep and mop, you'll be able to more easily clean behind the toilet. If you don't have a toilet with an exterior tank, you can still use this hack by attaching these tools to the wall for a similar effect.
