Organize Your Whole Kitchen Using These Genius Food Box & Bag Folding Tricks

While one of the best ways to organize your pantry, according to an expert, is to assign everything a place, keeping your kitchen clutter-free can still be a challenge. Rather than purchasing more clips or boxes to organize your space, you can use simple folding techniques to ensure your kitchen stays neat!

Instagram creator, @effectivespaces, shows how easy it is to fold common pantry and freezer items to ensure your food stays in its bag. The general idea is that the top of every item becomes a triangle that can fold in on itself. For a freezer box, simply fold three of the tabs into the box, leaving one of the larger sides out. Then, pinch the two short edges of the box, and slide the remaining edge in. This forms a triangle top, preventing anything from falling out. For a chip bag, you fold the two long sides towards the center of the bag to create a triangle. Next, fold the bag down on the opposite side, and then use the two corners to secure the back in place.

Another easy trick is to use leftover paper grocery bags to create a storage bin. Using scissors, cut the top half of the corners of a paper bag, leaving the bottom half of the corners uncut. Then, fold the cut edges down, to create reinforced sides. These new storage bins will then be ready for your pantry!

Customize your organization to fit your style

While Costco's kitchen essentials make organizing deep shelves so much easier, just one of these iDesign Recycled Plastic Cabinet and Pantry Storage Bins can cost $10. These paper DIY storage bins are super easy to make, can be customized to fit your kitchen, and are nearly free. Label your paper bags with a marker so that everyone in your house knows exactly what is in the bin or where to put items when they take them out of the pantry. You can also use this hack inside the fridge to hold fruits and vegetables. Not only does this easily organize them, but it also allows for easy clean-up in case one of your produce items goes bad. Simply remove the bag and replace it with a new one. These DIY storage bins can also be made from leftover gift bags to add a little more color to your organization. Reattach the bag's handles to the side of the container by cutting two slits in the side. This will allow you to easily pull the bin off the shelf. Use these bins throughout your kitchen or even in your closet.
