Make Fun Dollar Tree Pool Noodle Aliens For Out-Of-This-World Halloween Decor
Halloween is a fun time of year to really go all out with your yard decorations, and this super scary pool noodle hack will take your Halloween decor to the next level. By cutting and shaping Dollar Tree pool noodles, you can make your very own alien figure to sit in your yard. For this project, you'll need a few other Dollar Tree supplies: a broom handle for the base of your alien as well as one of the Just Pretending Halloween masks to craft the head. If you already have a Halloween mask that would look perfect for an alien, you can substitute that instead. Since your project will end up being covered in a spray foam sealant to get the final look, you can use any color pool noodle and it won't affect the final result.
Depending on what you're going for, you might make several of these aliens, which will be about 3 feet tall, to make it look like there's an invasion on your lawn. Otherwise, you could attach two broomsticks together to make a larger alien, though this will require more pool noodles to craft the body. To get that signature green look, finish your DIY alien with a fluorescent green spray paint. Alternatively, using a glow-in-the-dark spray paint ($4 at Walmart) could make your aliens look haunting at night, though it may appear white during the day. Now, you can save money on fall decor with this unique Halloween pool noodle DIY and make an eye-popping intergalactic yard display.
Crafting pool noodle aliens
First, cut your pool noodle so that it's the right length to fit most of the broomstick and create the body and legs of your alien. This will vary by how long your broom handle is or if you're using multiple. With your long piece, make a slit through the middle about a third of the way up the noodle to create two separate sections for the legs. Continue cutting the ends of the legs to make toes. Take a smaller section of noodle and add another center cut almost all the way through to make shoulders and arms. Trim the ends of both sides to make fingers, though you can customize how this looks.
Slip both pieces onto your broom handle and secure with tape. Now that your base is finished, take your project outside and begin coating it in your foam spray (about $4 at Home Depot). This is where you'll really be able to customize the body shape. Use gloved hands to smooth out the foam, though it will still look bubbly, and paint your alien. For the head, remove the plastic face and paint it as well. Glue the fabric from it on the backside, stuff it with a pool noodle, and pin the fabric together. Finally, place your head onto the top of the broom. Stick the bottom of the handle into a pot with soil or into the ground to give your front entry the perfect spooky look on a Dollar Tree budget.
