Keep Visual Clutter In The Bathroom At Bay With A Cheap & Simple Solution
Just because the bathroom is a utilitarian space doesn't mean we want to abandon aesthetics. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Most people go out of their way to create a bathroom that mimics a spa or five-star hotel. Because of this, reducing disarray in the space is key, which means clearing clutter from bathroom counters and reducing the amount of items on the floor. The latter is especially crucial — nothing kills the vibe faster than seeing a visible plunger, toilet bowl brush, and stack of toilet paper beside the toilet. While there are plenty of ways to hide toilet paper in style, hiding the toilet brush is trickier. You can store it in your vanity if you have room, but that's prime real estate earmarked for beauty and bath products. Instead, you can use Velcro to keep it hidden but nearby.
Specifically, cut a long strip of Velcro and attach one piece to the brush and another piece to the back or side of the toilet. Aim to make your sliver about 2 inches long. When your brush is not in use, attach it to the toilet, hanging it out of sight but close at hand. While still nearby, you won't be able to notice it when you walk into the bathroom, leaving the floor space clear.
Caveats to keep in mind
While this is an easy way to declutter your bathroom today, there are a few caveats to keep in mind. Both the toilet bowl and toilet brush are grimy areas. Because of that, put the Velcro piece closer to the top of the handle, where your hand naturally rests. Avoid putting it in the middle or the bottom, as this will expose it to toilet water, contaminating it with germs and viruses. This will force you to constantly replace the Velcro strip, making this hack less practical and convenient.
Secondly, this tip works best on a disposable toilet wand system. For instance, Clorox's Toilet Wand System comes with an ergonomic wand and disposable brush heads which you click into place and then toss in the trash once used. This hack is best reserved for those wands because you won't have a dripping brush you need to store after you use it. Regular brushes usually come with a cup to store them in, which catches the residual moisture, and you wouldn't be able to hang that on the side of the toilet.
