How Costco's Play Couch Stacks Up To Its Popular Competition

If you want something for your home but the original model is out of budget, chances are you can find a solid dupe at Costco. A case in point is their children's play couch set. Parents and kids alike love these movable, stackable cushions because they give little ones a safe way to jump, climb, and tumble. You can turn them into forts, slides, playhouses, and tumble mats, depending on the configurations. Plus, if you're looking to design your child's playroom, they offer an aesthetic touch thanks to their bold colors and soft fabrics. One of the most sought-after brands on the market is the Nugget Play Couch, but that costs a steep $249.

Costco's Yourigami "Play Fort," on the other hand, is $100 cheaper, clocking in at $159.99 online. But is it a comparable dupe, or is it nearly half the cost because it's missing some features or has cut some corners? After all, $150 still isn't chump change, and the purchase can end up being more expensive if you dump the dupe and get the original because you're dissatisfied. To help you make your decision, we compared how these two selections stack up.

How the two versions compare and contrast

First, let's look at the similarities. Both the Yourigami Kids Convertible Play Fort and The Nugget come with several foam cushions in varying shapes. Specifically, they both have square and triangle pillows. The covers also slip off to be washed in the washing machine thanks to their zippers, which is handy since washing couch covers is easy. The cushions can then be used to make all sorts of playful configurations, from castles to forts to cars. When not in use, they both pack flat. But that's where the similarities end.

The Yourigami option comes with 12 cushions, whereas The Nugget has four. The Yourigami also has smaller cushions, whereas The Nugget has one large base cushion, one large supporting cushion, and then two smaller triangles. In addition, The Yourigaim also has circle pillows, allowing you to make more configurations, and they have handles to make moving them easier. The Costco version comes with only one fabric option, which is not disclosed, but The Nugget allows you to choose between microsuede, double-brushed, and corduroy. The Costco version also comes with four color options, whereas The Nugget has 18 options. So which is better? It depends on what is most important to you. If design and aesthetics are important to you, then The Nugget is the no-brainer with its various fabric and color choices. But if you want more variety in your play and more moving pieces, then the Yourigami could be a better fit.
