Tidy Up Your Charging Station Instantly With A Clever Dollar Tree Hack
We're all constantly attached to our technology, which means we're constantly on a loop of charging and recharging our devices. Of course, with every phone upgrade there comes a new charger to add to the bunch –– creating a sea of wires jutting out of every outlet. Even though our devices have become a modern-day essential, that does not mean that we have to live with the constant chaos. But, before you buy an expensive, but stylish, charging station, consider making one instead. Thankfully, according to YouTuber Do It On A Dime, Dollar Tree has a handy item that you can use to instantly organize your devices while they're charging: a simple utensil rest.
According to the video, the grippy, silicone spoon rest from the kitchen supply section of your local Dollar Tree can keep your tech in order. You can set this item on the counter and its rubbery grip will keep your phones or tablets from slipping. The small slots, where you would normally place spoons or spatulas, make just enough space to set most phones on their sides. In addition, these little slots are perfect for tablets (especially ones on the smaller side) or smartwatches. Of course, every Dollar Tree is a little different. If you cannot find this exact spoon rest at Dollar Tree, you can find them elsewhere online like Amazon where they retail for only $9 for a set of two and come in five different colors.
How to take this hack to the next level
You can also substitute these plastic taco holders for a similar device-holding function. You could even spray paint them with a metallic color to make them look a little more luxe. If you do decide to use the taco stands but are worried about your device falling off the hard plastic, attach some non-slip shelf liners from Dollar Tree to give them some silicone-like grip. Some other easy substitutes are these small metal display easels or even a dish drying rack which can be used in the same way.
And, while this hack is extremely useful, it doesn't quite get rid of those annoying wires completely, so the best way to deal is to find a way to minimize or hide them. To hide your cables altogether, set the stands on top of a bin or basket with a lid. Just choose one that has small holes for handles, like this one from Amazon. You can then place a surge protector inside the basket, plug it in through one of the holes, and then thread your charger cable out the opposite side, much like user @lambertslately does in their TikTok video. This hack can be combined with any holder you choose, including the silicone spoon rest that Do It On A Dime recommends in the video.
