A Simple And Stylish Countertop Storage Idea That's Perfect For Keurig Pods

Single-cup coffee makers can be convenient, but there are a few hidden downsides to owning a Keurig. As much as you'd love a clean, decluttered kitchen countertop, it can be a bit of an uphill battle when you have a ton of K-cup pods lying around. Luckily, every organizational problem has a solution, especially with a little creativity and DIY know-how. But before you reach for fancy shelving or expensive tools, you can create a stylish (and affordable) K-cup pod tower using just a few items at your local Dollar Tree, according to Ashley Anderson, a.k.a. @ashllley87 on TikTok.

Anderson tapped into her inner creativity by grabbing some simple wooden craft supplies for this Dollar Tree storage DIY project. In her video, Anderson shows how to create a mini crate using five small wooden pallets. Similar pallets retail for just $1.25 each at Dollar Tree, or you can also use these slated wooden signs. Each crate you make requires five pieces. Alternatively, you can also skip the step of making the crates yourself and use these pre-made ones that come with or without handles instead. These crates are about 5 inches in length, 3 inches in width, and 2 inches high, making them excellent for storing a single layer of K-cups. In addition, you will also need wood glue, craft clamps, and some wooden paint sticks (which you can get from Dollar Tree or likely grab for free from Home Depot).

How to build wood crate Keurig pod storage

If you're building your crates from scratch, Anderson demonstrates that you can glue four of them together just using wood glue. You also have the option to use a nail gun or staple gun to construct your tower if you're not sure of the bond on the wood. Then, attach the fifth piece to make the bottom of the crate. Anderson then uses the paint sticks to make a tower to hold two crates, while also attaching a third at the top to hold a cute "coffee" sign using something like these mini chalkboard signs from Dollar Tree. Her tower also seems to have attached small horizontal pieces of wood as feet to hold the tower upright. You can cut down another wood plank/paint stick, popsicle sticks, or small pieces of scrap wood. The craft clamps are meant to hold the entire piece in place while the glue is drying.

If you'd like, you can paint or apply a wood stain to your tower once the glue has dried to pull the look together. And while Anderson only uses two crates for her coffee bar tower, you can also create three or four if you need extra storage. For an added decorative touch, you can also attach some vintage faux metal stickers like these from Walmart or actual metal embellishments that you can find from sellers on Etsy.
