DIY An Impressive Pumpkin Carriage With Dollar Tree Items
As balmy breezes begin to shift into cool, crisp winds, it's fun to sprinkle festive accents throughout your space to changeover your house from summer to fall. While you'll find no shortage of fall decor items in stores, sometimes it's nice to make something for your home with your own two hands. Need a bit of inspo to get your creative wheels turning? Look no further than TikTok's latest trending fall DIY — an enchanting and eerie pumpkin carriage. It beautifully merges the whimsy of autumn with the spookiness of Halloween. Best of all, it only calls for a few supplies from Dollar Tree, making this project super affordable.
What's also great about this DIY pumpkin carriage is you can style it in a variety of places, from a bookshelf to a table centerpiece to a mantel. To make your own, here's what you'll need to add to your Dollar Tree shopping cart: four paper towel holders, two pumpkin wreath forms, one block of floral foam, a few assorted florals, and some spooky decor. You'll also need zip ties, hot glue, and a small wood or cardboard plank. If you're ready to try this adorable Dollar Tree DIY to get your home ready for fall, let's get crafting!
Get creative with your pumpkin carriage
To create the first set of wheels, zip tie two paper towel holders together with their circular bases facing in opposite directions. Repeat to create a second set of wheels. Lay the two sets of wheel frames parallel to each other and glue either a small wood board or a piece of cardboard across the top of them. If you don't have a wood board or cardboard handy, you could glue a few paint sticks and large popsicle sticks together to create a makeshift board like Windy City Crafts Videos did in her pumpkin carriage tutorial on YouTube. Glue the floral foam block on top of the board, and you now have the wheelbase of your carriage.
Next, zip tie two pumpkin wreath forms together at their tops but leave the bottoms untied. Gently separate the bottom sides of the pumpkin wreath form and clamp them around the floral foam. All that's left to do after that is to add your various floral or spooky decor to sit on the floral foam — think moss, leaves, skulls, headstones, spiders, skeletons, ghosts, and more.
This is the fun part, as you can customize your carriage according to your own style. For example, paint the wheelbase black and the pumpkin carriage orange. Or, if creepy-cute Halloween decor is not your vibe, fill the carriage with gorgeous fall florals instead. You could even add a cozy lighting element with LED string lights, candles, or mini lanterns. However you choose to decorate your carriage, it's sure to impress all of your family and friends faster than you can say bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.
