DIY A Chic Pendant Light With Items From Your Nearby Dollar Tree

Despite the minimalist look, chic, industrial lighting and decor can be costly unless you're shopping in the right place. Who knew the right place could actually be your local Dollar Tree? Before you start shelling out a ton of money for heavy, hard-to-install pieces for your home, you might be pleased to know that amongst the many underrated items from Dollar Tree, you can find a few unassuming pieces to create a very sophisticated industrial pendant light with no hard wiring. Crafter @diybyjaz laid out everything you need in a video for her YouTube channel DIY Home & Crafts.

Check out your local Dollar Tree to find the main components for this light, including a disc cone (that usually come in a package, so you can make multiple lights), a spool of ribbon, battery-operated LED light bulbs, and a Halloween cuff and chain (if you're shopping in the fall). Other needed items include some E6000 glue, a hot glue gun, scissors, and spray paint. @diybyjaz used matte black and gold spray paint, but you may use any colors you like to match your home decor. The project mainly involves spraying each piece with whatever color you prefer and then gluing everything together.

While you put together this light, there are a few things you should consider to make it work. @diybyjaz used a ring from a spool of tulle to make a gold cap that will connect the light bulb with the cone, but cap from a spool of ribbon (or any plastic ring) could also work. Make sure this component will also fit around your light bulb so you can screw it in properly.

This project also used an LED light that may not be available at your local Dollar Tree, but you can modify this project with a similar option from Amazon. If you cannot find a disc cone like in the video at Dollar Tree, you can also find a package of them at Dick's Sporting Goods. The Dollar Tree Halloween cuffs may also be hard to find because they are a seasonal item, but any plastic chain or connector will work.

One important technique that @diybyjaz shows is using a combination of E6000 glue and hot glue. This is a great DIY technique because hot glue provides an instant bond that allows the E600 (which is longer lasting) to dry. Of course, any DIYer knows that E6000 glue has so many uses around the home, so it's a good item to invest in if you like to do projects. Once you have everything painted (in your prefered shade) and glued together how you want, all you need to do is hang the light up anywhere you need a touch of ambiance.
