With several of the low cost retailer's wooden craft dowels and some strong glue, you can craft a unique, wall-mounted towel rack. Look for square wooden dowels that are 12 inches long at your local Dollar Tree; you'll need eight of them. To hold your wood pieces together, Dollar Tree's wood glue is a great option, though you could also use the clear quick-setting epoxy instead. For a rustic look, you can leave the wood as-is, but if you want a little more of a modern flair, try painting your towel holder black. You can find black tempera paint at Dollar Tree, but spray paint might provide a better appearance. Alternatively, you might use a wood stain to style your project. When your towel holder is finished, you may be able to mount it on the wall with an adhesive like Command Strips, or you can screw it into a stud. With this quick and easy craft, you can DIY your own budget-friendly towel rack and save space in your bathroom.
Crafting a towel holder with Dollar Tree wood
Start by gluing two of your planks together at their ends, creating a board that's double the length, and repeat this with another pair. Now, cut two of your planks in half to create four smaller pieces. This may require a saw. You should then have two pieces that are 24 inches, two that are 12 inches, and four that are 6 inches.
Lay two of your original size dowels down vertically and glue 6-inch pieces perpendicularly onto the ends of the dowels. This should make two U-shaped parts. Now, attach these pieces onto the ends of your two 24-inch dowels. To do this, stand up one of your U-shaped pieces and glue the two legs onto the tops of the two longer boards, connecting them. Repeat this with your other end piece at the bottom of the long dowels. This will create an open rectangular shape to hold your towels.
Once the structure is complete, you can decorate your towel holder. Besides paint or stain, consider attaching a piece of pearl wrap ribbon to the two front bars for a luxurious-looking accent that hides the seam. Mount the base of the U-shaped ends onto the wall so that the long planks are in the front and fill your rack with rolled or folded towels. Not only can you elevate your basic bathroom with this easy-to-make towel holder, but you can also DIY it without hurting your budget.
