Use Dollar Tree Items To DIY A Custom Monster Wreath That's Perfect For Halloween

If you're looking for a unique way to decorate your front door for October, you can DIY a spooky wreath this Halloween season for the most festive look. Since everything at Dollar Tree is $1.25, you'll be able to make a gorgeous decoration for just a few bucks. With a wreath form, some tulle, foam balls, construction paper, and a bit of hot glue, you can create a wreath that looks like a monster opening its mouth and exposing its sharp teeth. While the teeth can be made from white construction paper, you can use a foam board for a sturdier option. For a simpler craft, use a foam floral ring, but if you'd prefer something that looks a bit fuller and more complex, try using a metal wreath form as the base of your project.

To start creating a festive Halloween wreath on a budget, you'll want to prep your eyes, teeth, and any other additions, like a bow tie. With two foam balls, make your eyes by either painting a black circle in the center of the ball or by cutting out a round piece of black construction paper and gluing it into place. You could also use jumbo googly eyes instead. For the teeth, you'll want to cut out two pieces of white construction paper, foam board, or even leftover white cardboard that are long enough to touch both sides of your wreath and wide enough to come halfway down the opening. Now, trace your sharp teeth design onto your material and cut it out.

When your teeth and eyes are finished, set them aside to attach to your project later. Now, cut strips of tulle that are about 10 inches long. While Dollar Tree does have Halloween glitter ribbon in black, purple, and orange, you may be able to find other colors at your local store. If not, plastic tablecloths can also be cut into pieces to replace the tulle and achieve a similar aesthetic. Start tying each piece around your wreath form. This may require about two spools of tulle. If you're using a wire form, do this on each section of wire aside from the outer ring. You may be able to use shorter lengths of tulle and still get a very full look, since your pieces will be layered. With the plastic tablecloths, you might want to choose to use two colors and line them up before tying.

Once the base of your wreath is perfect, you can start attaching your additions. You might hot glue the eyeballs into place at the top of your wreath or use toothpicks to stick them into your foam wreath form. Flip your project over, line up the top and bottom rows of your teeth, and glue them to the sides of your decoration, allowing the teeth to show through the opening of your wreath. If you'd like, use Halloween ribbon to make a bow tie and glue it beneath the mouth. With this cheap and easy Halloween decoration, you'll make your front door the talk of the town.
