The Easiest Way To Reset Your Keurig Coffee Maker After Descaling

Rubbing the wool from your eye and walking groggily to your kitchen to brew a fresh cup of coffee to shake the mental cobwebs might be a daily occurrence for you. However, your morning routine will come to a screeching halt if you notice the "DESCALE" light turned on your Keurig coffee maker. You have two options in such scenarios. The first option is to give the machine a deep clean if it's been nearly three to six months (or more) since the last time you cleaned and descaled your Keurig without a drop of vinegar. This will clear the pesky clogs and make your coffee maker last longer. But if the light keeps flashing, simultaneously push the 8 and 10-ounce buttons for three to five seconds.

This is one of the easiest ways to switch off the "DESCALE" light and let the machine do what it does best — brew a delicious cup of coffee. But if this doesn't solve your problem, check if you followed the descaling tips to a T and didn't forgo any important steps. In case you're in the clear and cleaned your coffee maker well, you need to manually reset your Keurig machine to turn off the "DESCALE" light and start brewing a delicious cup of joe. That being said, you might have to contact Keurig's customer support at 1-866-901-2739 or 1-866-901-2739 if none of the listed options work.

How to reset your Keurig coffee maker after descaling

Begin by pressing the "Power" button on your Keurig coffee maker to turn it off. Once it's off, remove the plug from the wall socket and detach the water reservoir. Decant the water inside and set it aside. Now, let your machine rest for a minimum of 10 minutes before plugging it back and pressing the "Power" button to bring it back to life. This should help reset your coffee maker's inbuilt computer.

To ensure the factory setting doesn't go wonky, give the appliance a few seconds (or minutes) to recognize there's no water reservoir attached to its side. Simply put, wait for the "ADD WATER" light to come to life to fit the freshly filled reservoir back in its dedicated spot. After this indicator turns off, pop open the K-Cup compartment (you'll have to pull up the brewer handle) prior to moving it back to its original position. And you're done! Your Keurig coffee maker is officially reset and back in business.

While this process is fit for various Keurig coffee makers, including K-Cafe, K-Supreme, K-Elite, K-Duo, the 2.0 and 1.0 versions, K-Slim, K-Classic, and K-Mini, it won't work for K-Supreme Plus and K-Supreme Plus Smart. For these models, pin the right and left arrows at the same time to bring up the menu. Then, keep pushing the right arrow to choose the "Factory Reset" option. Allow the machine to reset unplugged, and plug in the machine when asked to complete the process.
