Create Space-Saving Keurig K-Cup Cabinet Storage With This Simple DIY

A Keurig coffee maker can be a great way to make your favorite beverage no matter the time of day. However, those small Keurig K-Cups can be almost impossible to store in an organized way. When thrown in a storage bin, they quickly become a jumbled mess, and it is difficult to know what you still have available and what you need to buy more of on your next grocery store trip. You may have thought about purchasing a K-Cup holder, but these carousels will set you back up to $40 and take up precious countertop space, as do the Keurig storage drawers.

Instead, create slots onto the backside of a cabinet door that can hold K-Cups in place by their tops. This is a simple DIY that will bring organization to your morning routine. It hides the K-Cups inside one of your kitchen cabinets so they are always on hand but not in plain sight. Even better, repurpose the now-empty Keurig storage drawer to keep your kitchen clutter-free.

Creating your own storage solution

With just a thin stick of wood and some double-sided mounting tape, you will be well on your way to hiding away your K-Cups. Use wood that has rounded edges, and cut several pieces about an inch shorter than the inside width of the cabinet, taking safety precautions like wearing safety glasses or goggles when cutting the wood. To avoid getting splinters when you use your organizer, take a few extra moments to sand the cut edges of the wood with sandpaper. Then, use the double-sided tape to attach the pieces of wood to the inside of your cabinet door. Use a K-Cup to get the spacing between pieces of wood correct. You want them spaced far enough so the top of the cups slide easily between two pieces but not so far that the cups can fall out. Add as many rows as you need.

The best part about this project is that it is completely customizable. To make your storage blend in, paint the wood the same color as the inside of your cabinet before attaching it with the mounting tape. If you always buy the same types of K-Cups, you can also add labels to the wood so you know exactly where each one belongs. If you like to change your beverages from week to week, consider creating a labeling system with some laminated paper and sticky tack. When you're finished customizing your K-Cup storage solution, take a moment to clean your Keurig and avoid this commonly made mistake to make a better tasting drink.
