Novaform ComfortGrande Advanced Gel Memory Foam Mattress

The top reviewed mattress at Costco is the Novaform 14" ComfortGrande Advanced Gel Memory Foam Mattress. With a total of 4.5 stars from over 13,300 customers, this is far and away the most popular, too. And it has over 3,000 more reviews than the second place mattress. Made with a special Phase Change Gel to help sleepers regulate their temperatures, this item is made for hot sleepers, who should also know these tips to keep their mattresses cool in hot weather.

"This mattress immediately resolved the back issues I was experiencing with my other, worn out mattress," wrote one customer. "I have nothing but love for this mattress. It's like sleeping on a cloud. So far, I've had no issues with temperature control, and I live in the Phoenix area." In addition to the gel, the Novaform also has a quilted cover that helps keep you cool and is made with a cooling EVENcor GelMAX memory foam. It comes in twin, full, queen, king, and California king sizes. At the time of writing, these range in price from $319.99 for a twin to $579.99 for a Cal king. Some buyers were not as happy with it, noting that it was too soft, even for a medium-firm mattress. Others say that the memory foam starts to lose its bounce back after just a few months and clear body indents are noticeable sooner than buyers expected.

Casper Cooling Select Memory Foam Mattress

Still near the top of Costco's bed pile, the Casper Cooling Select 12" Memory Foam Mattress has 4.4 stars from over 10,100 customers. This four layer foam mattress offers similar cooling as the Novaform, but with a no ozone depleting chemical promise. Its four layers comprise a breathable top layer, pressure-relieving memory foam, a patented Zone Support layer and then the sturdy base layer.

Many customers cited this mattress as helping with their chronic back pain, with several others mentioning that this was a re-purchase because they loved their Casper so much. "I have tried many different mattresses over the years," one customer wrote. "Some were very expensive but the[y] didn't last as long as one would think they should before the dreaded dip occurs...It's just [t]he right amount of firm that it doesn't dip & yet my hips & shoulders aren't hurting." This Casper is available in full, queen, king, and California king sizes, ranging from $549.99 to $849.99 at the time of writing. A common complaint about this particular mattress is that there is a chemical odor when it is first opened. Though many reviews indicate that it goes away after a day or two. You may need to wash the cover as well to fully eliminate the smell.

Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid Mattress

Although Costco doesn't sell silk and snow or lucid hybrid mattresses, they do still have a highly rated standard hybrid mattress. The Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress is one of the top rated ones available. As a hybrid, it combines the comfort of a foam mattress with the strength of an innerspring mattress — it's the best of both worlds. This Sealy is rated 4.4 stars as well with just over 2,000 reviews. With its SealyCool Gel Foam top layer to keep sleepers cool and the DuraFlex Coil Edge for a sturdy sleeping surface, you can rest easy.

This option is available in full, queen, king, and California king sizes ranging from $679.99 to $899.99 at the time of writing. Plus, over 70% of reviewers rated this Sealy at 5-stars! One reviewer raved: "I am a light sleeper, but this mattress is so successful allowing me to get a deep sleep...The mattress is soft and I feel I sink into it, yet it is firm at the same time. It is very hard to explain, but it is truly so comfortable. Love it!" Many other top reviews agree that this plush, yet firm, Sealy gives them much better sleep. Other reviewers strongly disagree that the mattress is anything other than firm. Several indicate that it's too hard for them to sleep on comfortably or that they had to purchase an extra foam topper to make it palatable.

Kirkland Signature by Stearns & Foster Lakeridge Mattress

Any true Costco fan would be appalled if there wasn't a Kirkland Signature brand in this list somewhere. But fear not, there is one! The Kirkland Signature by Stearns & Foster 14.5" Lakeridge Mattress is one of the highest rated ones available at Costco. This innerspring mattress has a 4.3 rating from over 8,300 customers. It is built with a memory foam top to keep you comfy and a box spring is also available for purchase if you need one.

This Kirkland mattress is available in queen, king, and California king sizes from $999.99 to $1,199.99 at the time of writing. Several reviewers revealed that this was a repeat purchase after having many years of happy sleep with other Kirkland Stearns & Foster beds in the past. "This was our second Kirkland Signature Stearn & Foster bed," one customer wrote. "...We love this bed, I'm a 200+lbs and I needed something soft but firm enough to support my lower back when I sleep. I learned my lesson and will never again buy those $500 10inch memory foam bed." Although a very small group of reviewers gave this Kirkland piece a 1-star, many who did so noted that the mattress began to sag and have indentations after a few months.

PurpleRenew Gel Grid Mattress

A much different variety of mattress from the others in this list, the PurpleRenew 11" Gel Grid Mattress is, as the name implies, made of a gel grid. So it doesn't fit into any of the other categories like memory foam or innerspring. Purple mattresses are made from their own type of GelFlex grid, which is built to relieve pressure from sleepers' bodies. It also allows for undisturbed movement for bed sharers, as memory foam does too. This PurpleRenew has a 4.3 rating from over 350 customers.

Several reviewers say that their various body aches have dissipated since using the PurpleRenew, while others indicate that they've rarely slept better. "Super comfortable," one user wrote. "Went through a few cheaper mattresses before trying the purple. Boy this is the best night sleep I've gotten in forever. I am 225 and my wife is 105lbs. Both of us think this is a perfect mattress." It comes in queen, king, and California king sizes from $1,399.99 to $1,699.99 at the time of writing. As for the less-than-happy customers, those who are side sleepers say that the Purple mattress caused them to wake up with hip pain. While others say these types of mattresses may not be made for folks over 170 pounds, as they wake up in pain or get stuck in the middle during the night.
