Lowe's Or Home Depot: Who Has The Better Deal On Quartz Countertops?

In the past, we've compared Home Depot and Lowe's to see who had the better deal on kitchen countertops. We decided Home Depot won the comparison for countertops in general. However, we're going a step further this time by comparing these two big-box hardware stores on quartz countertops.

Our comparison this time again gave the very slight edge to Home Depot, but it really depends on the style of quartz countertop that you want to install and on the size of the space. When we say the comparison was close, our sample countertop at Lowe's was $2.16 more than at Home Depot before applying any discounts, which was less than a 0.1% difference on the entire bill. Where Home Depot took control of the comparison was by offering an automatic 10% discount at the time of ordering. Lowe's offers some discounts, too, but we did not have a discount code to enter at the website. With the automatic Home Depot discount applied, it easily won the comparison. However, if you have a significant Lowe's discount code, you might receive a better deal than at Home Depot.

Before you install quartz countertops, it's important to understand that this is a pricey material. You can expect to pay between $50 and $120 per square foot for installed quartz countertops. Comparing granite and quartz countertops, the costs are similar. Quartz is significantly more expensive than laminate or acrylic, though.

In making our quartz countertop price comparison between Home Depot and Lowe's, we created a fake job order that was as basic as possible so we could be certain odd requirements wouldn't throw off the price comparison. When ordering at the Lowe's website, most quartz countertops started at $71 per square foot. However, Lowe's had a few models on a significant discount sale for those who aren't picky about the color and design. We saw one as low as $54.60 per square foot, which was a 30% discount from the normal listed price. We selected the same color — Atlantic Salt — that we picked at Home Depot. This slab was $71 per square foot at Lowe's. For 32 square feet of countertop, Lowe's charged us $2,274.16 for product creation (using our specifications) and delivery.
