HGTV's Hilary Farr Makes A Case For Installing Two Shower Heads In One Bathroom

Fans of "Tough Love With Hilary Farr" witnessed the HGTV show's lovable star transform a dysfunctional bathroom into a beautiful, serviceable space in a Season 2 episode entitled "Hilary's Dealt a Full House." The bathroom had to be completely overhauled to accomplish the task of blending style and functionality. And while having one easily accessible and usable shower head was a primary ask of homeowners Antwanne and Teressa, Farr ultimately gave them two with the goal of space sharing in mind.

"You won't have to kill each other over sharing," the home renovation expert informed the couple as she explained what was in store for the redesign, since Farr's plans notably included a shower head and vanity for each of them. "I don't have to wait for you, and you don't have to wait for me," Teressa acknowledged to her husband in anticipation. There was another motivation for Farr to include dual shower heads with peace and calmness in mind, too, and it's one you should consider trying out yourself if you have the budget for a complete shower makeover.

Farr selected dual shower heads to create a more luxurious atmosphere

Hilary Farr made design choices on this project that evoked a more luxe, relaxing atmosphere. That's not a surprise since Farr created a spa-like bathroom retreat in her own home remodel, as she shared with viewers on her other hit HGTV show, "Love It or List It." She clearly appreciates spa experiences, and having tandem shower heads can certainly bring subtle luxury to the bathroom.

After contractors completed the extensive "Tough Love" bathroom remodel, Farr remarked, "This is like a spa experience now, and that's what I wanted it to be." She didn't stop with dual shower heads, though. She and her design team added some finishing touches including fragrant bath products, natural sponges, and a portable wooden bench. In spite of those nice-to-have flourishes, the tandem heads in the open shower are the stars of this spa-like makeover.

If you have the ample square footage needed for installing dual shower heads in your own home, you can expect to spend from $1,000 to $10,000 depending on the size of the space, your materials of choice, and how much additional plumbing work is needed. The cost, of course, will be higher if you have to knock out walls to make more room. That's a hefty price tag, but the end result can be stunning. Plus, you'll add luxurious functionality to your space.
