The Egg Carton Hack Your Home Office Desperately Needs
If you are the king or queen of your own home office, you are also responsible for your technology. Whether you are a pet groomer or an executive, you use a computer to manage your business, communicate with your cohort, and do your accounting. Many of us work on the go, and that means we need to have the portability of a laptop computer. But if you don't clean your laptop and care for your computer properly, it will have a shortened life and affect your bottom line. As it turns out, an ordinary egg carton can do wonders for helping to keep your laptop in good condition.
Laptops come with some limitations. Because they are much smaller than desktop computers, they have technological constraints. If you have ever held a laptop, you know the bottom of the computer can get very warm. While larger computers have built-in fan systems to cool the components, laptops don't have room for such systems. Their fans are small and inefficient. And while you can buy cooling mats to keep the temperature in your computer down, this egg carton home office hack is an easier and much cheaper alternative.
Use an egg carton to care for your laptop computer
There are lots of egg carton hacks, but this one is perfect for the home office. Most egg cartons are made from either polystyrene or molded paper. The latter would be best for use as a laptop cooling pad because the fibers are stronger than polystyrene. If the carton has a lid, cut off the top of the carton and only use the bottom. If you have a larger laptop, you can set two or even three egg cartons side by side for a more stable surface.
Simply set your laptop on top of the individual cells of the egg carton, allowing air to circulate underneath and carry heat away from the computer. This keeps the components within the laptop cooler and prevents the device from overheating and shutting down temporarily, or even permanently. Your computer will also perform better and faster when it is at a cooler temperature, and the battery will last longer, as well. Taking small steps to care for your office technology will save you money and time and help create an efficient home office space.
