A Sticky Note Makes Detailed Cleaning A Breeze. Here's How

As a result, people have turned to all sorts of unconventional tools to help them remove dirt and grime from these areas. For example, dental floss is sometimes used to clean tight spaces within a keyboard. One of the most important places to use cotton swabs is in the nooks and crannies of electronics because it is difficult to clean these areas thoroughly with a cloth or sponge. 

These strange cleaning tools are only a few of the many options that people rely on when during detailed cleaning of any object. Sticky notes are another unexpected cleaning tool, but they will help you remove stubborn grime that you may have had trouble getting rid of before.

You can use a sticky note to clean the crevices of things such as keyboards, remotes, laptops, and more. This hack is especially useful for those who work in an office and may already have sticky notes on hand to use to clean their work equipment. Adding this method to your cleaning routine will ensure you no longer neglect those hard-to-reach spots that often contain grime and dirt.

YouTube channel Clean My Space shared a video in which content creator Melissa Makker showed how she puts this hack to use to clean game controllers. As you can see, Makker simply folded a sticky note and used one of the corners to clean the thin crevices of the controller. This method would also be effective on TV remotes or that computer mouse that you maybe haven't cleaned in some time. The sticky note corner should be able to fit into nearly any item with tiny crevices, making it a super versatile cleaning tool.

The method shown in the Clean My Space video is only one of the ways sticky notes can be used for detailed cleaning. For example, the sticky side of the paper is great to use to grab dirt, dust, and other debris that may fall in between keyboard keys. To clean your keyboard using this hack, simply fold a sticky note with the sticky side facing outward and run it in between the keys. Repeat as necessary. Debris should stick to the note, leaving your keyboard clean.

It is important to clean your electronics and office equipment thoroughly because they can harbor more bacteria than you may think. Video game controllers, for example, are likely one of the dirtiest items in your home. According to a study that Domestos and Unicef conducted, a game controller has about 7,863 germs for every 100 square centimeters (via Mirror). In comparison, a toilet seat has only about 1,600 germs for every 100 square centimeters, the researchers found.

Desktops can also contain alarming amounts of bacteria. There is even quite a bit of scientific evidence that may give you even more of a reason to keep your office space clean. A study that the University of Arizona conducted revealed that an average desktop has 400 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat (via the National Center for Health Research). Your keyboard, laptop, and computer mouse all likely sit on top of this bacteria. These items can be cleaned more precisely with this sticky note hack, which may give you more peace of mind.
