The Paint Shade HGTV's Lyndsay Lamb Swears By For Brightening Up A Room

Lyndsay Lamb who, along with twin sister Leslie Davis, stars on HGTV's "Unsellable Houses," is known for her laid-back, eclectic style. She is a Washington State-based realtor and interior designer who specializes in selling, well, unsellable houses. While acknowledging that she and her sister often opt for neutral paint colors when staging hard-to-sell homes, she's got a recommendation if you're getting tired of the ubiquitous grays and beiges that have been so popular for the last few years. Meet Quietude by Sherwin-Williams.

Quietude is officially designated a neutral green shade, but it's really a blue-green color with cool gray undertones. Of course, whether it shows up more blue or green will depend on the lighting in your home. Quietude's Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 48 means that it reflects 48% of light, making it a light-medium color. This paint shade would work well in a north-facing space to increase the cool vibes. It could also be used in a sun-drenched south- or southwest-facing room to balance out the warmth.

Why Lyndsay Lamb loves Quietude

In Season 2, Episode 5 of "Unsellable Houses" titled "Nest Egg Reno," Lyndsay Lamb along with the team redid a home in Arlington, Washington that wasn't getting the offers it needed. After opening up the space to give it better flow, the sisters chose a coastal style to appeal to a wide range of potential buyers. While keeping the walls neutral gray with coordinating floors and tiles, they brought in cool blues and green accents to reinforce the seaside theme. Among those shades was Quietude, which they used on the cabinets, as blue and green tones are some of the best kitchen cabinet colors.

"If you are looking for a brighter splash, Quietude is a great combination with a slight gray undertone," Lamb says on the Lamb & Co. website. "We have used this color on kitchen cabinets, and I love how it brightened up the space! This color works great for a coastal, vintage farmhouse, or craftsman-style home especially!" Your home's style and lighting are just some of the factors designers use to pick the perfect paint shade. You should also take into consideration how you want your home to feel. If you want the space to have a relaxed but still bright and cheerful vibe, Quietude could be the right choice for you.

How to use Quietude in your own home

While you could follow in Lyndsay Lamb's footsteps and use Quietude to add a pop of color to your kitchen cabinets, it would also obviously be great on the walls, especially if you're looking to give your home a beachy feel. The soothing green-blue brings the colors of nature inside and would work well in spaces where you want to chill out, like your bedroom or bathroom. On the other hand, if you don't want to commit to a whole room, Quietude would make a fantastic accent wall as well.

As far as coordinating colors, Sherwin-Williams recommends Window Pane, a lighter and even brighter blue-green pastel. They also suggest pairing Quietude with Pavestone, a mid-range stone gray that would add a touch of warmth. Or, you could use Jasper Stone, a deep, cool blue-green with gray undertones that would really lean into the nature feel. For trim and doors, you could use White Flour, a warm off-white with beige undertones that will complement Quietude without overpowering it. Quietude could also work on the exterior of your home, but you should consider architectural elements before choosing an outdoor paint color. Therefore, ensure the shade pairs well with your stone or brick and doesn't clash.
