HGTV's Jenny Marrs Has A Unique Solution For Outdated Bathroom Vanity Lights

A bathroom can quickly look outdated even if the fixtures and design are neutral. However, decorating a bathroom doesn't have to break the bank and can easily be done on a budget. Adding design elements like wicker and greenery can quickly transform the space. For the biggest impact, consider a bathroom lighting fixture makeover. For example, Jenny Marrs from HGTV's "Fixer to Fabulous" opted to use modern pendant lights to replace the builder-grade vanity lights in her homeowner's bathroom in Season 4.

No rule specifies that you have to use vanity lights in your bathroom. By opting for pendant lights that you may find more often in a kitchen, you can transform the area in ways you may not have thought possible. In the "Fixer to Fabulous" episode, the new lights and other renovations made the outdated bathroom gorgeous and feel brand new. "With the new fixtures, new shower door, new pendant lights and the warmth of the wood on the cabinetry the look is completely updated with a clean Swiss-inspired style," Marrs explained on her blog.

Another great way to update your bathroom without spending too much is to add wallpaper – the funkier, the better! – or to paint a feature wall. If you want to go further, changing the flooring will also create an instant facelift – Marrs used a porcelain cement-look floor tile from Lowes, which costs about $1.60 per square foot.
