Make Your Bathroom Pop With This Jenny Marrs-Approved Design Idea

If you're a bit weary about adding colors or patterns to your home, consider starting with your bathroom. Since it's a smaller space, getting creative with your bathroom is a great first step into the world of design. Jenny Marrs, host of HGTV's "Fixer to Fabulous," renovates houses and knows the secret to designing a luxurious bathroom, but if you want to add some life to your bathroom, you may want to consider going Peruvian with your design.

Marrs debuted a gorgeous bathroom on her Instagram that was just the right amount of classy and fun. She used Peruvian-inspired blue tile on the floors and back wall, blending the tile with light-colored side walls, a darker vanity, and wood-trim mirrors. "To bring in the Peruvian feel, we found this blue tile that made the room pop," Marrs said of her design. "We added a bit of Peruvian style to Northwest Arkansas."

How to get Jenny Marr's Peruvian bathroom style

Jenny Marrs and her husband, Dave, always keep the homeowner in mind when renovating. When one of their homeowners expressed their love for their Peruvian heritage, Jenny and Dave decided to add that to their home, and focus on the bathroom. "We wanted to have a little fun with the bathroom and bring in a Peruvian feel with the tile choice," Marrs said on their blog. "The blue accent colors go beautifully with the arched shower wall, reminiscent of dome shapes you see in Peruvian homes. The pebble floor tile in the shower feels very natural, while the marble hexagon tile on the shower wall looks amazing."

To get the look in your bathroom, you'll want to start with a fun, colorful tile. Jenny and Dave used the Ivy Hill tile from Home Depot, which costs $8.99 per square foot or about $97 for a case. To add dimension, they chose wood mirrors from Target for $80 each and a black sconce for lighting from Kichler for $89. They painted the walls in Benjamin Moore Simply White and the vanity in Benjamin Moore Overcoat.

Other ways to add Peruvian flair to your bathroom

Peru is a vibrant country and their decor influences stem from their surroundings. If you want to add some Peruvian flair to your space, you want to focus on mixing natural elements with bold, bright colors. Jenny and Dave Marrs chose blue for their Peruvian-inspired bathroom, but red is also a big color in Peru. We love the Merola Tile from Wayfair for $89 per case, or for a really fun vibe, the Marrakesh Porcelain tile from Floor & Decor for $4.49 a piece is also a great choice.

When you start decorating, add even more Peruvian inspiration by putting some greenery in Terra Cotta planters, which not only look great but also help you get rid of plant pests. Look for ones with some etching, like the Dakota Fields Cozad Handmade Pot Planter from Wayfair for $30 or these Traditional Terracotta Dish Planters from Kirklands for $34. Keep the rest of the space simple by painting the walls white and adding plain black hardware to the vanity and sink.
