Give Fallen Tree Branches New Life With This Lovely Valentine's Day Decor DIY

Celebrating Valentine's Day is a great way to bring warmth and joy to a time of year that can feel quite cold and dark. Its warm-toned colors and appreciation of love are a welcomed reprieve from cold, snow, and early sunsets for many. Since Valentine's Day is not considered a major holiday that comes with its own dedicated season, it can feel impractical to invest in decorations to mark the day. This is where DIY décor can come to the rescue.

Decorating hack machine TikTok is a major player in the DIY décor world. A video by creator @macy.blackwell recently surfaced on the app depicting a simple way to create an adorable Valentine's Day decoration while salvaging fallen winter tree branches at the same time. All you'll need is a small tree branch or two, a vase or jar, craft paper, scissors or a heart punch, spray paint, and a hot glue gun with glue sticks.

How to make a DIY Valentine's Day tree branch display

Once you've gathered your fallen tree branches, arrange them in your vase to decide which ones you would like to use or discard. Remove and thoroughly dry the branches you decide to use. Then spray paint your branches. White, pink, or a light metallic shade will best serve the theme of the arrangement, but follow your gut and choose a color you enjoy. When the paint on your branches is dry, return them to the vase.

Next, use your scissors or heart punch to cut hearts out of a variety of craft paper in Valentine's Day-themed colors, like shades of red, pink, gold, and silver. Feel free to embellish your hearts with glitter, stickers, or written words. After you've finished your hearts, use your glue gun to attach them to various points of your painted branches to create a stunning bouquet of hearts that will brighten up your space and bring festive joy to you and your guests.
