The Doorbell Hack That Is Perfect For Homes With Large Families

If you have kids, you know the constant struggle it is to get them to listen, especially when they reach the age of solo room time. If you're tired of yelling across your home or walking up and down stairs just to tell your kids dinner is ready, there may be a great hack for you: installing indoor doorbells. TikToker @thosecrazymalones shows how she placed four doorbells in each of her boys' rooms, attaching the buttons to the inside of her cabinets. When she presses each button, you hear her sons each responding "What, Mom?" pretty much immediately.

And while this hack may seem like a no-brainer, there are a few things to consider before using it for your own home. The most important one is cost – installing a legitimate doorbell can be cost-heavy and difficult to do. Luckily, we have found an easier, more budget-friendly way to use this hack with your family.

How to use the doorbell hack in your home

If you are backing out of this hack because you are afraid of electric work, don't leave yet. Since the doorbells are for the inside of your home, you can actually purchase doorbells that don't require any electrical setup and are quite easy to install. These doorbells from Amazon sell for about $15 per bell and all you need to do is plug it into a wall outlet. Each doorbell also comes with a receiver, which you can attach to your wall with adhesive or drill holes. You simply pair the doorbell to the receiver, similarly to how you would pair a Bluetooth device and viola! No more screaming across the house.

If you want something even more budget-friendly (if you have four kids, the doorbells can cost you about $60), TikToker @ArinSolange shared a similar idea for half the price. Using a color-coded remote, which you can find at Walmart for about $30, you can place the transmitters in your kids' rooms, assign each child a color, and use the single remote to make a dinging sound in their rooms when you need them.
