Add A Little Flair To Your Kitchen Cabinets With This Stunning TikTok Dish Towel Hack

Dish towels are a must-have for your kitchen, but there's no denying that they can look a little dull hung over the handle of your cabinet or oven. There are various ways to tie your towels to make them both stylish and functional kitchen items, but this DIY has to be the cutest and most creative we've seen. Demonstrated by @bethanyyschmidt on TikTok, the following hack involves turning regular towels into bow-shaped accessories.

Requiring nothing other than two of your favorite dish towels, tying your towels into cute shapes is a great way to utilize what you have rather than buying other things. Even the most DIY-averse of people will be able to pull it off. Plus, once you know how to recreate it, this hack can be used for many occasions. Whether you're looking to add a little fun to festive holiday settings or just want to put extra effort into your kitchen, bow-shaped towels will bring that little something extra to any occasion. You can customize the hack depending on what you're celebrating — for example, these Anyi red dish towels for $14 on Amazon will bring some festive spirit to the holiday season, and these with decorative hearts from Cackleberry ($24 on Amazon) are perfect for Valentine's Day.

How to add some dish towel flair

No matter which dish towels you opt for, they should be of medium thickness. Too thin, and the bow will look deflated — too thick, and they won't fold into position well. To get started, grab your chosen dish towel. Fold one towel into thirds longways. Then, fold the whole thing lengthwise again so the towel makes a long and thin cylindrical shape. Next, grab another identical dish towel. Fold each half of the towel in, as you did with the first one, but this time, fold vertically so the towel makes a taller rectangle. Scrunch the center slightly, and then grab the first towel you folded. Wrap it around the center of the second towel in a vertical motion — not tucking too much under — and it should make a bow.

All that's left to do now is take your bow-shaped dish towels and tuck them carefully into the handle of the cabinet. Pull the towels down until the bow is sitting on top of the handle securely and adjust so everything is symmetrical. That's it! This hack is simple to pull off, but if your handles sit close to the cabinet or don't have much grip, the bow may not stay in place. Additionally, while it's very pretty, it isn't the most practical of hacks, so it's best to put your bow towel on a cabinet that isn't used often to save you from having to move it constantly.
