TikTok Shows Us How To DIY A Stylish Vase Using A Few Dollar Store Finds

Keeping fresh flowers in your home instantly brightens up the space and emits positive energy, making you feel happier and less stressed. Whether you buy flowers for yourself or someone gifts them to you, they always make the perfect piece of décor for any room. The tricky part about placing flowers on every table is finding a vase to put them in. Sometimes, there aren't enough vases for the flowers you're gifted, so you end up squeezing too many into a single vase. Buying multiple vases can be expensive, and even though there are affordable styles, they're not always as stylish as we'd like them to be. However, DIYing vases can easily add more to your collection without breaking the bank. In a recent video, TikTok user @budgetfriendlycreations DIYed a stunning vase using a few items from the dollar store.

The vase turned out fabulous after a few coats of spray paint and gemstone strips for a touch of sparkle. We love this DIY because you can modify the materials to tailor it to your taste. Plus, it's a great weekend project you can do with friends or family, allowing everyone to take home a stylish vase. The TikToker uses two plastic bowls found at Dollar Tree, a textured lattice pattern glass jar also found at Dollar Tree, mixed media adhesive that's $7.99 at Michaels (or any super glue you have at home), rhinestone borders from Walmart, and your choice of spray paint.

How to DIY your vase with dollar store items

Gather your materials and set them up on your crafts table. You can use any plastic bowl if you can't find the Dollar Tree bowls at your local store. Target and Walmart also have a few options for small plastic bowls that cost just $0.50 each. The bowls on the Dollar Tree website are larger, which could make the glass jar look awkward since it's smaller. However, if you like the look of the larger bowls, you can always purchase a bigger mason jar to even out the scale.

Start by gluing the bowls together to create a sphere base. Then, glue the bottom of the glass jar to the center of the bowl's surface. Allow the glue to dry entirely to prevent it from unsticking. Next, spray paint the entire exterior of the bowls and jar and the jar's interior. Add a few coats of spray paint to prevent the base color from peeking through, and let it dry. Finally, glue the rhinestone ribbon to the top of the jar and where you glued the two bowls together. If you have a self-adhesive rhinestone ribbon, you won't need to glue it to your vase. Add your flowers, and you're done! Style your chic vase in your living room, entryway, kitchen, or dining room.

Ways to alter your DIY vase

TikToker @budgetfriendlycreations DIYed her vase to be white and sparkly to complement her home's interior. It's a simple yet elevated look for a DIY vase. However, if you want something more extravagant for your vase, you can alter this DIY in multiple ways. For instance, you can use a different color to spray paint the entire vase or try two colors, using one shade for the bowl and the second for the jar to create a two-tone look. If you enjoy painting, you can show off your skills by painting different designs on your vase, such as geometric shapes, paint dripping, fruit, or anything that puts a smile on your face when you look at it.

On the other hand, if you're not a painter or a fan of rhinestones, you can use other crafting materials like jute twine, ribbons, holographic foil, or gold leaf. Mix a few materials for a contrasting look. You can also hot glue different items to make the entire surface look textured. For example, wood beads are incredible crafting materials that are versatile and inexpensive. They give the vase a rustic look with the wood elements, but you can also paint them with various colors to match the rest of your décor. You can buy the beads in different sizes and hot glue them to your vase. Mix in some bows for added texture and color to create an impressive vase for your home.
