TikTok's IKEA HAVSTA Tip Is A Total Game Changer For Luxe Home Decor

Whether you've recently moved into a new place or are looking to update an existing home, finding furniture that fits your budget but doesn't look cheap can be tough. Luckily, this Ikea hack will do just that. As shared by design expert @kivabrent via TikTok, all you need is two Ikea HAVSTA cabinets and some beginner DIY skills to make an upgraded display cabinet on a budget. Considering that the majority of the Ikea HAVSTA collection costs under $500 (per piece), with some of the separate pieces averaging $300 to $400, it's worth a trip to Ikea.

The range is available in three colors: white, gray, and dark brown. Pieces range from tall to short, so there's something to suit every room's shape and size. The following hack focuses on slotting together the taller pieces. You should buy one with a glass front for the top half of the cabinet and one with solid doors for the bottom. As seen in @kivabrent's video, the trick to achieving a high-end cabinet look is to stack two of the HAVSTA cabinets on top of each other.

Give yourself a luxury look without breaking the bank

The exact two cabinets shown in the above video don't seem to be made anymore, but you can achieve a very similar look with the current versions of the HAVSTA cabinet. Any of the separate combinations from the collection are designed to be stacked, so you can pick one that best fits your home. However, if you want to replicate the look exactly, the styles most similar to the ones in the video are the Ikea HAVSTA two-door cabinet and the Ikea HAVSTA glass-door cabinet, both in dark brown.

If you don't want to do the stacking yourself, a pre-made Ikea HAVSTA storage combination cabinet with glass doors is also sold that looks very close to the finished product in the above video. This cabinet is available in dark brown, white, and gray, like the rest of the HAVSTA range. In response to a comment asking about the construction, @kivabrent revealed that the glass compartments on the top half of the cabinet were secured with the included mounting hardware. Brent also shared that she did not paint over the cabinets, leaving them as they originally were. If you don't like the color options available, we recommend opting for white and then painting your Ikea furniture — in general, light colors are far easier to paint over than shades like dark brown.
