Turn Your Home Into A Winter Wonderland With TikTok's Genius Paper Bag Hack

Turning your abode into a winter wonderland is a fantastic way of making your home feel the holiday magic. But you don't have to go all out to bring the enchantment of winter indoors; paper bag snowflakes will do the job for you. Simply pop on your DIY hat and get ready to craft some chic DIY paper snowflakes. TikTok user @x3kendraa crafted a few snowflakes using brown and white paper bags. She glued eight paper bags on top of each other to create a 3D effect and then trimmed the edges in various shapes to create unique snowflake designs.

You can adopt this TikTok user's genius paper bag hack to spread the holiday cheer one snowflake at a time. All you need is a pair of sharp scissors, a hot glue gun (white craft glue works equally well), command hooks, a pencil, clear fishing line (twine works, too), hole puncher, and some paper bags (the quantity depends on how many paper bags you use per snowflake).

In case you don't have the bags handy, you can buy a pack of 40 brown lunch bags from AJM for under $7 from Amazon. But if brown is too plain for your taste, get 72 pieces of Christmas-themed paper bags from MIMIND for around $22. Or, if you prefer something subtle with a little character, order 100 pieces of BagDream's recycled brown bags with white stripes for under $13. You can also go with small-sized bags for mini snowflakes.

After you've got the supplies and the glue gun is hot, set aside seven to eight paper bags on a table. You can even go for nine if you want a dramatic effect, as long as the bunched-up version doesn't get too thick for you to cut through. Once you've decided on the number, place a bag with its mouth positioned away from you, meaning its closed end should be facing you.

Now, grab the glue gun and draw an upside-down T on the bag — one horizontal line along its center and one vertical along its closed end — before placing another bag on top for a 3D effect. Proceed in a similar fashion until you've got yourself a pretty stack of bags. Use the pencil to draw patterns along the edge of the bag (anything goes, from a triangle to topsy-turvy trees and hearts), and grab your scissors to cut them out. A hole puncher can also add some cool shapes.

Make sure you don't cut out the center of the sealed bottom. Finally, unfurl your magical snowflake and apply glue in a T shape to join the first and last bags. You can even use a paperclip if you want to store your precious snowflakes for next year. Ta-da! Your winter wonderland snowflake is ready to be hung with a fishing line or command hook on your wall, mantel, and windows. Intertwine fairy lights with your paper bag creation for a full-on winter wonderland look.
