Get Rid Of Bird Poop Stains Using A Handy Product You Already Own

Taking a nice, quiet stroll down the sidewalk or in the park is always a pleasure ... that is, until a bird decides to use your shoulder as target practice for dropping poop. Birds have a habit of doing this mid-flight so it can land anywhere — on cars, on your jacket, your head, or on the pavement. It might look funny in movies, but there's nothing comical about poop landing on your pretty dress shirt on your way to work. Because bird poop isn't like human or mammal feces, getting the stains out of our clothes can prove to be a challenge. Fortunately, one handy product that you can use to clean your laundry is hydrogen peroxide, and you only need to reach into your first aid kit.

Birds don't urinate separately from poop as humans do. Because of this, their poop contains uric acid waste which is thicker than normal urine. This is why bird poop is white and this is what leaves behind that annoying residue on your clothes that's so hard to remove. It may seem like the more you try to scrape it off, the deeper it gets embedded into the threads of the fabric. It even discolors your clothes. By using hydrogen peroxide, you can cleanse the stain off totally without much hassle.

Wait for the poop to dry on fabric before using hydrogen peroxide

Bird poop stains have a reputation of getting stuck in fabric. The best way to remove bird poop stains from your clothes is by whipping out that bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide. First, wait for the poop to dry. This shouldn't take long. Because of its pasty nature when fresh, bird poop is easier to handle when it's dry and flaky so that you don't accidentally spread it around. Once it's dry, scrape it off with a coin or a piece of plastic and not with your hands for sanitary reasons. When you're left with just the stain, add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide, just enough to cover the surface area of the bird droppings. Leave it for about an hour before blotting it dry. Keep at this until the stain is completely gone.

Because bird poop is made of highly concentrated acid, it tends to be corrosive, not just against your clothes, but your car paint job as well. Because birds don't discriminate when firing their poop missiles, you may also need to get their stains off your car before it ruins the paint. Hydrogen peroxide won't be ideal for this, but you can just spray on some WD-40 and let it sit for a minute before wiping it off with a rag.
