Turn A Flower Pot And Old Boxes Into Adorable Holiday Decor With TikTok's DIY

With December comes a season of giving and festive decorations. Whether you're celebrating a holiday or want to spruce up your porch for winter, you can spread some cheer with whimsical decor. You don't have to break the bank to make it happen, though. Grab some cardboard boxes, a flower pot, and decorative items, and create a fun tower of presents to brighten up your space.

This project gives you plenty of room for creativity and personalization. You can use any materials you'd like to decorate for Christmas, Hanukkah, or any other holiday you'd like to celebrate. You can cut and display the boxes whichever way you want to make them as whimsical or formal as you desire. If you're concerned about this project's staying power in the elements, there are a few things you can do to make sure it won't blow away or deteriorate if it gets snowed on.

Make your porch festive with some DIY fun

For this project, you'll need the biggest flower pot you can find, three boxes in different sizes (the largest one fitting nicely into the pot), a long PVC pipe, cement mix, and decorations like wrapping paper, garland, and bows. Paint the pot if you'd like, mix the cement in a bucket, and place the pipe in it. Once it's set, put it in the pot. Cut two holes in each box, wrap them, and slide them onto the pole. Put the holes on the corners for a whimsical look, or put them in the middle so the boxes sit flat for a traditional look. Then, you can decorate to your heart's content.

If you live in a windy area, consider filling the pot with cement rather than using a bucket so it will be heavier. Do keep in mind that it will be much harder to move around, and you won't get to reuse the pot later. If you live in a wet area, use waterproof tablecloths or outdoor fabric on the boxes rather than wrapping paper. You can opt for plastic bows and garlands for better durability. If you don't have restrictions holding you back, go all out and decorate it with lights, glitter, or whatever else makes you feel festive. If you don't want to do presents, consider Styrofoam balls to make a snowman.
