Joanna Gaines Shows How Easy It Is To Add A Festive Touch Of Fall To Your Porch
Though many people like to decorate their homes with spooky decorations for Halloween, others may opt to celebrate the season as a whole. Festive fall decor is a beautiful and easy way to give your home a little cozy touch. In fact, it's so easy that Joanna Gaines' youngest son tried his hand at it. The interior designer and star of "Fixer Upper" shared an image of her son Crew holding a collection of white pumpkins on Instagram. Those pumpkins eventually ended up on the Gaines' front porch, as shown in another video shared on the platform. He drew a spooky face on one and even included a few adorable marker drawings of ghosts on the walls to really make the scene come to life. Crew's decorative setup proves that even just some tiny pumpkins can make a massive difference in your porch's appearance during autumn.
Further, there are many benefits of decorating with pumpkins, starting with the fact that this is an inexpensive option. You can typically find pumpkins at grocery stores during the fall as well as at farms and pumpkin patches. You can buy a variety of sizes and colors without breaking the bank. Another benefit of using pumpkins to decorate is that, if uncarved, they can last for two to three months in the right conditions. This means you can use pumpkins as decor throughout the entire fall season without having to ever replace them.
How to use pumpkins for fall decor
Joanna Gaines' son Crew picked a few small white pumpkins for his Halloween decorations. When choosing the right pumpkins, the first decision you have to make is whether you want to use real or fake ones. As stated, real pumpkins can last for months, but fake types will last for years, providing a more long-term investment. Many people prefer real pumpkins for their look, but there are very realistic-looking faux options available. Both are good choices for fall decor, so it ultimately depends on which is best for you.
The trick to decorating with pumpkins is to mix and match their colors, sizes, and shapes. Check out a few varieties to get a good idea of what you should look for. The fairytale pumpkin is a large, flat variety with a quintessential rustic shape that makes a great base for a stacked decoration. For a unique color, opt for a blue prince that has gray-blue skin or a Casper type that has bright white skin. Add texture with Marina de Chioggia and knucklehead pumpkins.
Display them in a stack, placing large, flat ones on the bottom and decreasing in size as you move upwards, with smaller, rounder pumpkins on the top. You can also create groups by placing vignettes of three or five together. Arrange them on either side of your front doors, on the edges of your front steps, or along the front of the porch.
