This DIY Ghost Candle Couldn't Be Easier To Make

Sometimes, creating fun and distinctive decorative items for fall is easier than you think. Candles are always a big part of creating a spooky or cozy vibe in your home, but Halloween-specific candles can often be expensive at home retailers.  TikTokker Lindsey (@tiktokin.mama) recently revealed an easy hack for creating adorable ghost candles with items you may already have to make a perfect spooky décor element that will add tons of charm to your table, mantel, or other fall tableaux. All you need are white taper candles, tongs, a pot of water, and a Sharpie.

The end result is a cute and squiggly ghost candle that fit perfectly in any candle holder or candelabra. This DIY can turn inexpensive taper candles into unique Halloween decor that looks like you paid much more for it in stores. In addition, you can burn these ghost candles like regular tapers or can use them year after year.

Making swirly ghost candles

To create your swirly ghost candles, simply heat up a pot of water on the stove until it boils, submerging your candles until they are soft and pliable. Use the tongs to remove the candles and bend them to the desired shape from top to bottom. Allow the candles to cool and harden again, then use paint or a marker to add eyes and a mouth at the top. Insert your candle into a taper holder or candelabra.

Use them alone, in a grouping, or as a spooky way to light your windows on Halloween night. They look perfect as part of a Halloween centerpiece or tablescape, as well as topping a fireplace mantel scene. While white candles make excellent ghosts, you can also use a similar process with other shades like black, red, purple, or green to make similar swirly candles that look like snakes, claws, or other spooky season creations.
