How HGTV's Christina Hall Transformed One Bedroom Layout From Regrettable To A Work Of Art
Location is key when it comes to choosing the right real estate, and it's a definite bonus if you have a great view. But where you arrange the furniture in a well-thought-out home is just as important if you want to take full advantage of the nearby scenery. HGTV fan-favorite Christina Hall, in fact, showed a homeowner exactly how important it is to maximize the view in one particular episode of "Christina on the Coast."
The before version of the second-floor room had the bed positioned in front of several windows. As part of the room makeover, Hall removed a wall of storage that was crowding the space. She was then able to move the bed to a wall adjacent to the windows. This shift let in a ton of room-brightening natural light but revealed an awesome view of Los Angeles. Hall was so pleased with the changes she made, that she was even a bit jealous herself. During the finished room reveal she remarked, "And Kasey, I mean, who knew that you have a view that was that, like, spectacular?"
Bringing more natural light into a bedroom
Allowing natural light to flood the space completely transformed the room's feel. When contemplating this type of change in your own home, the first thing to consider is the paint color for the walls and ceiling, as lighter hues will reflect more light than dark alternatives. You can consider removing blinds or shades as well. This exposes the entire window letting in as much light as possible. You can also think about switching to shear curtains instead of heavier drapes to allow light to filter in. If you really want the privacy that thicker curtains offer, just make sure the rod extends wider than the window frame so they don't obstruct any of your view when opened.
Outside your home, removing window screens can allow more light in as well. And, of course, sparkling windows will allow in more light than dirty ones, so keep them clean for maximal effect. With a few changes, you can transform your own bedroom into a bright, inviting space.
