Add A Stunning Lamp To Your Space With This Thrifted Vase Glow Up

Are you going thrifting for a lamp anytime soon? If so, keep an eye out for an interesting vase instead. That's right — you can instantly transform your garden variety vase into a stunning light with nothing more than a lamp shade, a wireless puck light (courtesy of Amazon), and some super glue. This awesome TikTok hack is fun, affordable, and lets you get creative. Further, since this DIY uses remote-controlled lights, you can turn your new lamp on and off without having to get up, making this perfect for the bedroom.

Aside from being easy on your wallet, this thrifted DIY vase lamp hack is awesome for anyone with kids or pets. Wires are extremely dangerous for children, especially if they bite and chew on them, as this puts them at risk of an electric shock. They can also become tangled in the wires. The same goes for your pets, as they can get caught up in the wires as well or even electrocuted. However, you can easily and affordably remove the cords from your lamps thanks to this incredible TikTok hack.

Find a thrifted vase and lampshade

According to @mrs.khrisppy, begin by grabbing a thrifted vase. Next, select a lampshade that best fits it. Just make sure that your shade holder fits securely on the opening of your vase, as you'll need to glue it in place. You can use super glue or hot glue for this hack, but @mrs.khrisppy uses an instant adhesive. Once the glue dries, you'll need to attach a wireless puck light. These are battery-operated and controlled by a remote. The top untwists, which means that even after you glue it into place, you can still remove the cap to change the batteries.

If you prefer a corded light kit, you can add one in place of a wireless puck light. This one by AIBOO is only about $13 on Amazon and can help you complete your DIY lamp project. The drawback to a corded version is that your lamp has to be near an electrical outlet, which limits where you can place it around your home. The other swap that works great for this hack is a bottle if you can't find a suitable vase (it should have a slender neck). Just make sure the base of the bottle is wide enough to support a lampshade without toppling over. To elevate this hack even further, you could decorate your DIY lamp, adding some mosaic tiles if you're not 100% happy with its appearance as-is. You could also paint it to better match your home's decor.
