The Stunning Flooring Jenn Todryk Uses To Add Charm To An All-White Bathroom

A sparkling all-white bathroom that signaled freshness and cleanliness was once the standard. But HGTV's "No Demo Reno" designer Jenn Todryk says this is no more, and that white-on-white bathrooms are so last season. "All white bathrooms are SO season one," the Dallas-based designer said in a recent Instagram post. That's why Todryk is turning to terracotta tile flooring to break up the monochromatism in her bathroom designs, as it's the perfect way to invoke some warmth and richness in a mostly white bathroom. 

Todryk had her hands full when renovating an outdated Texas home for Greg and Alicia Jardine in Season 2 Episode 3 of "No Demo Reno." For starters, the bathroom floor was carpeted. While she could have gone with a blanket white theme, she opted to avoid this look, which can come off as institutional-looking. By switching out the carpet for a gorgeous terracotta tile contrasted against white walls and a white marble countertop, along with a few organic elements like wood shelves and accents, Todryk was able to modernize and completely transform the Jardine's restroom.

Using terracotta tile to infuse a cozy, earthy vibe into a sterile-looking white bathroom is easy. First, you'll choose your tile. According to Stone Tile Depot, terracotta tiles typically range in price from $2 to $12 per square foot (though certain styles can be more expensive), so there is likely something that fits your budget. They come in different shapes, from standard square to star formations, giving you the ability to create a beautiful focal point with your floor, while keeping the rest of your bathroom more subdued.  

To recreate Todryk's bathroom look, you'll want to keep your walls white. She also continued the white with the marble countertop, though she chose a dark color for the cabinetry. To play up the terracotta tile's organic feel, you'll want to add plenty of plants and other natural elements, like pale wood shelving. And if you want to add a dose of glam, feel free to mix in gold fixtures and finishes. The result is a harmonious blend of light, dark, and neutral tones with a contemporary but comfortable feel.
