Martha Stewart Reveals Her Secret To Sparkling Clean Stainless Steel Appliances

When it comes to entertaining, cooking, and even cleaning, is there anyone better to turn to for advice than Martha Stewart? While on the "Today Show," dishing out cleaning essentials, Stewart was asked about the best ways to clean a home. If your kitchen is like Stewart's and has a lot of stainless steel appliances, you might be battling to keep it shiny and clean. Luckily, Stewart gave out an insider secret for keeping these appliances spotless: Windex.

"My kitchen has a lot of stainless steel. I use Windex, that's my secret for a really nice shiny stainless surface," Stewart said. She even went a step further to inform listeners on what to use for wiping the Windex that has an effect on stainless steel: "Use a soft rag. Don't use anything abrasive on stainless steel." Microfiber cloths are the best to use for these appliances for their soft fibers and absorption that won't harm your appliances.

Don't have Windex on hand?

While Martha Stewart loves using Windex to keep her appliances sparkly clean, she informed listeners about a homemade organic solution that works just as well and is good for all surfaces, including kitchen counters and stove tops. Mix half a cup of distilled white vinegar, and put it into a spray bottle. "It purifies and it smells good too," she added.

Pairing this solution with WIndex is another idea to consider for your appliances. Windex contains cleaning agents that make it suitable for all surfaces, but there are traces of ammonia in the solution that can cause streaking if you do not have the ammonia-free version. If you start to notice streaking on a glass stovetop or window after using Windex, spray the homemade solution over the surface and wipe it down with the microfiber cloth. You'll have a spotless surface that's also fully clean and sanitized.
