The first step is to take a small, battery-powered alarm clock, setting the device so it rings at several different times throughout the day. Depending on how big your mole problem is, it's a good idea to use multiple alarm clocks rather than just one, and tactically place them around your garden. Your best bet is to dig your holes in or in close proximity to the mole hole so the sound is likely to be heard. Then go ahead and bury the clocks. However, you should ensure that you can remember where you've placed them as you'll need to dig them back up. A good tip is to mark the holes you make with a stick poking out of the ground.

While this trick can be effective, it is important to note that it may not resolve the problem. The Royal Horticultural Society explains that the alarm clocks may just send the mole to another part of the garden, particularly if you're only using one clock. In that case, you may need to rely on other measures, including mole netting and mole repellants.
