Dry Your Fitted Sheets In Record Time With TikTok's Genius Folding Hack

There is nothing better than slipping into a bed with freshly washed sheets. Unfortunately, the journey of getting there isn't always easy. Especially when you retrieve your freshly dried linens from the dryer and find that they've become a wadded-up, damp sheet burrito. While your sheets are being tumbled around, they're often thrown about in such a way that they get tangled up or crumpled into a little ball, with a single fitted bed sheet encasing them all.

Luckily, you don't need to dry your sheets one at a time to prevent this from happening. Instead, you only need one clever trick: folding the fitted sheet into a perfect rectangle. However, folding a fitted sheet isn't the most intuitive thing in the world. With a little bit of guidance, you'll get the hang of it in no time. With this simple trick, your bed sheets will dry quickly and efficiently. And we aren't the only ones who think so; one TikTokker commented on a video of the hack, "I just tried this and it worked out so well. My laundry never came out so perfectly dry. Life changing."

It's all in the fold

If you've never successfully folded a fitted sheet, you're not alone. Many of us just lob it into a rectangle-ish shape and call it a day before chucking it in the linen closet. But it's actually pretty simple. To fold a fitted sheet, slip your hands into both corners on the top-hand side. Then take the corner on your right hand and flip it so it is inside out and slip it into the corner pocket on your left hand. Lay this half of the sheet down and repeat the process on the bottom side. You should now have two corners in your bed sheet. Take one on your left hand and the other on your right, then flip the right over the left. This will give you four neatly stacked corners. From here, you just need to fold it twice and you should get a perfect rectangle.

If you're also drying a top sheet, fold it as well to further prevent any tangles. Pillowcases only need to be shaken out before tossing them in; adding a few dryer balls into the mix is also helpful. After that, you dry the sheets as normal and you should have perfectly dried, tangle-free bed linens. And this doesn't seem to be a fluke TikTok cleaning hack. There are countless comments from people who use this tip and got great results, saying, "Tried this and it 100% worked!" and "I just did this and it works perfectly."

Fitted sheets and beyond

By folding the fitted sheet, you prevent it from parachuting over the other linens and causing a fabric tangle. The TikTok video creator stephanieboothhome says this hack also works well for comforters, duvets, and blankets, which often end up in the same clumped-together mess as sheets. Some of the greatest advantages of this hack are that it costs nothing, and, now that you've learned how to fold a fitted sheet properly, you can use this hack when it comes to storing fitted sheets as well. Goodbye to the linen closet goblin!

However, in addition to folding, make sure you aren't overloading the dryer. It's tempting to get all of your bed linens done in one go, but this can make it harder for your dryer to work efficiently. This leads to frustrating nearly-dry cycles and unnecessary energy use. Instead, dry your linens in batches, especially if you are drying both sheets and comforters.
