The Ombre Bathroom Tile Design Alison Victoria And Mike Holmes Nailed On Rock The Block

"Rock The Block" has featured some innovative designs over the years, but one of the show's biggest projects was an ombre bathroom tile design from season two, designed by Alison Victoria of "Windy City Rehab" and Mike Holmes of "Holmes Makes It Right."

During the episode, the renovations were judged by fellow HGTV design expert Egypt Sherrod and her husband Mike Jackson. Sherrod's appearance caused a stir among the other designers due to her fierce reputation, but from the beginning, Victoria was determined to win. "I came back to prove I can win more than just the kitchen, so I want the kitchen, main suite and bathroom and the big 'W' at the end," she revealed at the beginning of the episode.

Sherrod and Jackson were immediately impressed by Holmes and Victoria's ombre tile design, with Sherrod saying, "It's the ombre tile for me," as soon as she walked in. Jackson additionally noted how difficult the ombre tile and grout would have been to pull off, only adding to the success of the overall design. Here are all the details about how Victoria and Holmes pulled off such an incredible ombre tile look.

The bathroom makeover was chic and sophisticated

As you can see in the design undertaken by Alison Victoria and Mike Holmes, the ombre tile wall starts out dark blue at the top before cascading down into lighter blue hues and eventually transitioning into a classic white shade at the bottom. This white base then almost seamlessly blends in with the white flooring and white shower base for a clean and fresh look.

In-keeping with the ombre theme, Victoria and Holmes decided to go all-in for their design. Not satisfied with just the tiling having an ombre effect, Victoria had plans for her wall design that involved making the grout ombre too for a matching look. "It is a giant risk trying to go with two different grouts and trying to blend those grouts to make it ombre like the tile," she shared during the episode. "If it doesn't come out right, I'm gonna risk the win for us." Of course, we now know that the risk definitely paid off and gave Victoria her much-hoped-for win.

The final look was gorgeously unique

The finished look could have gone horribly wrong if the grout and ombre tiles didn't match up, but luckily all went well. Alongside the stunning cascading ombre tilework, Alison Victoria and Mike Holmes finished the shower with shiny golden hardware. When completed, the shower area had a luxurious vibe because of the gold detail but still felt calm and tranquil due to the various shades of blue.

Victoria looked elated at the end of the episode when she and Holmes were pronounced the winners, telling viewers once again just how much she wanted to win the episode. As for Holmes, he played upon his slogan, saying, "When you plan it right, make it right, you win it right."

If you're thinking of recreating Victoria and Holmes' winning look for yourself, it's best to get a professional involved. As pointed out by several people during the episode, an ombre tiled look is incredibly difficult to achieve, meaning it will also be costly to fix if anything goes wrong.
