Expert Advice On How To Choose The Best Lighting Products From Costco

Choosing the perfect lighting for a space means navigating functionality and aesthetics. Don't let lighting be something of an afterthought, nor something you have to spend a lot of money on. Some designers turn to Costco for their lighting needs because of the affordability and look of the pieces. As Floor360 interior designer Autumn Stankovsky explained to Best Life, when navigating your options at the warehouse club, consider first the design aesthetic of the room and then seek out lighting solutions that create a big impact.

Costco offers many types of lighting, including fixtures for ceilings and above vanities. Do not overlook the value of adding a beautiful floor or table lamp to your space either. Interior designer and Cabinet Select founder Chris Alexakis also shared, via Best Life, that any of these fixtures can add the look you want to a space and be versatile enough for just about any room of the home.

When choosing lighting from a Costco, consider needs and lighting specs but keep in mind there are more options online. Even better, most are competitively priced against other big retailers and often less expensive than light stores.

Lighting variety makes all of the difference

Just like the color of the walls or the pattern on the throw pillows on the couch, variety is the spice of life. Don't overlook the options and versatility of lighting at Costco. Per design expert Autumn Stankovsky (via Best Life), "Choosing the right lighting can be a win for both design and function in your home," noting, "There are a variety of lighting styles available at Costco." Finding a fabulous chandelier with dozens of glass pieces to dazzle up a room is easy enough. On the other hand, Costo also offers pendant lighting for over countertops, flush and semi-flush mount lighting for hallways, and lots of lamps in a wide range of styles.

Specifically, Stankovsky points to a midcentury modern option at Costco: the Cabo Arc Floor Lamp. With its three long swivel arms, the lamp can easily extend over a reading chair tucked in a corner or perhaps a coffee table for a bit of board game play. This lamp, with its antique bronze color, adds enough drama to create an upscale, modern space. The lamp is also quite extensive in size, about 36 inches in width overall. That can fill an open room or a space with high ceilings exceptionally well.

Lamps are a fantastic addition to any space

From the kitchen to the bedroom, setting a tone and aesthetic for the space really comes down to choosing the right adornments, and that includes lighting. Don't be afraid to use a variety of materials, too, including metal. For example, as interior designer Chris Alexakis told Best Life, you can add a simple metal table lamp to a coffee table or to a dresser, and in doing so, "elevate any place, adding a rustic, glam element."

On that note, choose a brushed steel tabletop lamp for a more formal, elegant setting, perhaps to match the knobs on a buffet drawer. On the other hand, tapered lamps, like those at Costco, can offer a bit more of a retro feeling with their elongated, golden necks. Costco's Vienna Table Lamp has a black body with a touch of gold, creating a lot of glamor for a space, while the Mariah Halo Lamp's round neck has more of an art deco feel.

You don't have to go with metal, though. Porcelain and glass lamps are also excellent choices, especially when you want to add more depth or texture to the space. Consider artistic light fixtures to add unique charm and a talking piece to your living room. You can also use brightly colored lamps, including those with a blue or soft pink hue, to create a fun bedside table look — perfect for reading but soft enough to exude a sense of relaxation.
