Transform Simple IKEA Picture Frames Into An Elegant Corner-Room Mirror With This Hack

Are you looking for a creative and affordable way to spruce up your living space? Look no further than this corner mirror unit IKEA hack! This simple yet innovative DIY involves using IKEA's popular square mirrors to create a chic and functional corner unit. It also offers a great way to make your space feel bigger. Not only is this project easy to do, but it also adds a touch of style and elegance to any room. After painting one corner in a contemporary shade of grey, TikTok user @_therichome then decorates the space with mirrors and a small display table.

The possibilities for customization with this project are endless. You can use different colored mirrors, add decorative accents or lighting, or even paint the entire unit to match your decor. The corner mirror unit IKEA hack is perfect for small spaces where every inch counts, as it provides both functional storage and a visually appealing focal point. But if you prefer something larger, you can just expand your width and/or length, provided that you have the wall space.

What you'll need

For this project, you'll need to take a trip to your nearest IKEA and hardware store. Or you can order these items online. When shopping at the furniture chain, grab five sets of the BLODLÖNN mirrors. Each pack comes with four 12-inch by x 12-inch mirrors. This DIY uses 20 pieces in total, but you can use more or less depending on if you want to make your design smaller or larger. At $12.99 a pack, you're looking at a total of $64.95.

You'll also need IKEA's LOMVIKEN aluminum picture frames. The project uses white ones, but they also come in black. Another option is painting them in whatever color you'd like. At $14.99 each, this will cost you $299.80 for 20. If you want to spend less money you can try the 12-pack of LP album frames of the same size from Michaels which are around $70 for a pack of 12.

A paint roller (which the furniture chain doesn't carry) is required, and you'll also need to buy paint. The color used in this project was from Lick, called "Beige 04 Matt," however, you can go with any shade or color that complements your decor. Finally, double-sided tape is necessary to stick the framed mirrors to the wall. IKEA sells a pack of four for $2.99, but this project uses Command strips instead. You could leave the wall as is, or buy a small item of furniture to add to it.

How to put it together

First, choose a corner of your home where you'd like to put this mirror unit and decide what dimensions you want it to be. This project is five mirrors tall and two wide on each side. To start, leave about 6 inches of space from the baseboard. Then you'll tape off a section that is about 72.5 inches tall and 30 inches wide. This leave will leave a five-inch border on the top, bottom, and side of your mirrors. You'll do this for each side of the wall. Once this space is sectioned off, paint it.

Next, you'll use your tape to connect the backs of two mirrors together. Do this for all of your mirrors until you have 10 sets of two. Mount each set to the wall with your double-sided tape or Command strips. Create five rows, ensuring that the mirror sets meet in the middle at the corner of the wall. Once the wall is done you can place a small corner table in front of the mirrors and add one, maybe two, small items. This will create a welcoming look without a cluttered feel.
