Here's How To Easily Hang A Frameless Wall Mirror
Mirrors enhance the look and feel of any room they're added to. However, hanging a framed mirror can be a design challenge at times since it must complement the room's overall theme and style. But a frameless mirror is a modern trend that can easily blend with and adapt to various décor styles. Available in a range of shapes and sizes, hanging a frameless wall mirror in your home can also make a room appear larger than it is.
Often associated with modern and minimalist designs, frameless wall mirrors work well in practically any setting. The best part is that once hung, frameless mirrors can be easily upgraded to match your new design aesthetic or space and require less maintenance than framed mirrors do. But the actual hanging of these mirrors can be its own challenge. To help, here are two methods to easily hang these trendy décor pieces.
With adhesive
To easily hang a frameless wall mirror with adhesive, you'll need a few supplies to get the positioning exactly right and for the adhesive to adhere properly. In addition to glass or mirror adhesive, you will also need drywall primer, a two-by-four or similar-sized piece of wood matching the mirror's width, a power drill, a sander, a level, a pencil for marking your measurements, and a caulking gun.
Mark off the final position of the mirror on your wall with a pencil and use the sander to remove the paint, steering clear of the border you've drawn. Apply primer to the sanded area. Then, using a drill, attach your piece of wood to the wall, lining it up just below the bottom of where your frameless wall mirror will be.
With your caulking gun, cover the back of the mirror with blobs, being mindful of how far away you are from the mirror's edges and corners. Place the mirror atop the board and push it lightly against the wall. Hold it in place for about 15 minutes until the adhesive begins to take hold. Once it's secure, you can leave the mirror to fully cure, which could take up to 48 hours. After this wait time, remove the board from below the frameless mirror.
With mounting clips
Alternatively, you could use mounting clips to easily hang your frameless wall mirror. Unlike adhesive, taking down a mirror hung by clips is far simpler, which is a consideration if you tend to change the look of your room(s) often. Other factors to keep in mind include if you live in a humid climate, such clips offer some space between the mirror and the wall for the passage of air to prevent mold growth. At the same time, one considerable drawback is that mounting clips will be slightly visible behind the mirror. To hang your frameless mirror using mounting clips, you will need the clips, a pencil, a drill, a stud finder, and a level.
Determine your frameless wall mirror's placement and use your level to ensure it's straight. Once you're satisfied with the position, mark it off on the wall with your pencil. Now, using a stud finder, find the wall studs near the determined mirror position and, again, using your level, mark the bottom position where your mirror will go. Drill pilot holes for the mounting clips and fasten the clips to these spots. Follow the same process to add the top mounting clips and then hang your frameless mirror to the wall.
