The Home Accessory That HGTV Star Sarah Baeumler Swears By

Everyone seems to be changing their home accessories as quickly as they change their clothes. This is no surprise due to all the beautiful décor trends we know would look stunning in our living space. From statement mirrors to woven baskets and faux plants, there is a wide variety of accessories to choose from that will most likely complement your current aesthetic. However, instead of filling our homes with a bunch of random items that may not last, we suggest choosing something that will always have a stylish purpose.

If you're unsure where to start, luckily, designer and co-host of "Bryan Inc." Sarah Baeumler has revealed the effortlessly chic home accessory that anyone can incorporate, according to HGTV. Baeumler has plenty of experience bringing properties back to life; we believe her tips can do that for your home. Check out this easy design hack that will brighten up your space and give it a fresh look.

Simple beauty

Sarah Baeumler says since home accessories are typically the last step in most home renovations, opt for a white vase, per HGTV. She believes it has the ability to cheer up a space without distracting from your main décor pieces or creating too much contrast. Baeumler believes incorporating vases with elaborate patterns and vivid colors will ruin the overall design aesthetic you worked so hard to create.

Hudson and Crane say that establishing too many patterns in a space can make the entire design seem way too overwhelming. In fact, 40% of a design in a room should be made up of solid décor pieces, so your eyes aren't frantically searching for a base to land on. So if you have a bunch of neutrals in a room, a vase with an eclectic pattern may become more of a burden rather than complementary. Baeumler also reminds us to avoid décor pieces that will go out of style in a year or two and instead incorporate tasteful and classic elements.

Greek influence

When it comes to white vases, Sarah Baeumler is specifically a fan of ceramic materials designed with Greek characteristics, according to HGTV. She believes the particular shapes that are formed add a touch of interest to the space; the white color tones down the accessory so that it only complements other décor items and does not contrast. This can be especially helpful for homeowners with décor consistently made of straight lines because adding a few curves can create balance, according to Baer's.

Khan Academy says Greek vases typically come in many shapes and sizes and are labeled with specific names. There is the hydria, which has a wide body, a thin spout, and three handles. There are plenty of other options, such as the chous, which takes on more of a pitcher shape, and the alabastron, which is shaped more like a typical vase and would be an excellent option for those who need a simple vase to display flowers.

Play with different sizes

Sarah Baeumler also believes one vase may not be enough and that grouping a few with different sizes will create interest and elevate your design, according to HGTV. If you want to play up your white vase, she advises adding a few flowers but notes that this is not essential for the overall design. If flowers are a must for you, luckily, white vases look great with most floral arrangements, such as red geraniums, gerbera daisies, Chinese peonies, or white on white with poet's narcissus, according to Vases HQ.

If you're convinced you need a white vase, luckily, Baeumler says you can find them almost anywhere at different price points. So far, out of all the white vases she has placed across the interior of her home, not one has she replaced. She loves the timeless design of white vases and believes they will elevate your home just as they have hers.
