DIY Elegant Pumpkin Decor This Fall With A Simple Dollar Tree Item

One of the best parts of the fall season is getting to decorate for Halloween. Looking through magazines is a great way to get inspiration, but many of the more elegant designs cost a fortune, and who wants to blow a whole paycheck on just a few decorations? Thankfully there's a way to make those Pottery Barn Halloween dreams on a Dollar Tree budget with a little bit of creativity and craftiness. One of the best ways we've seen this executed recently has got to be using Dollar Tree splatter screens to make a darling pumpkin decoration. This is the perfect cheap and easy Halloween decoration you can DIY for cottagecore and farmhouse-style homes.

Using three splatter screens — which are available from Dollar Tree – as well as glue, paint, ribbon, and a few other bits and pieces, you can create a stunning, understated Halloween decoration that offers a tasteful break from all the heavy-handed black and orange spooky décor. In fact, these screen pumpkins are so cute, you can leave them up all autumn long. And for just a few dollars and some handy work, you can't beat that.

Make your splatter screen pumpkin your own

To get started on the craft, take two of the screens and overlap them slightly, handles facing downward, then apply super glue or hot glue around the metal rims to lock them into place. Then apply your third screen directly in the center with the handle upright. Since you don't want two extra handles coming out of the bottom of your pumpkins, you will bend the bottom ones away from the screens — this will also help you to prop them upright when you're ready to show it off.

From there, it's totally up to you how you want to customize the pumpkin to your taste. One creator used matte white acrylic paint on the rims of the screens, and painted over where they show through in the pumpkin. To add an accent rim, you can add wood knobs, ribbons, tassels, or whatever other scrap material you have on hand and attach it with the glue of your choice. Don't forget to tie off the stem with a piece of ribbon, twin, or fabric. We also love the idea of using a metallic gold or silver paint for the visible stem for a touch of glam, or add in other paint color options. This budget-friendly Halloween craft really has so much room for personal choices, so have a blast and get crafting with this Dollar Tree pumpkin DIY.
